What a charming hotel. The owners are extremely friendly (and speak English well). The public rooms are wonderful, breakfast was great, and the views from our room were outstanding. We had room 20 (see hotel's website for pictures of each room), and although the pictures don't look all that enticing, they don't do the room justice at all. Like the blue bedspread in our room looks old in the picture, but it is actually a bedspread to keep the bed linens underneath clean. There are duvets under it. Also, perhaps the most comfy hotel bed I have ever had (and we like to stay at 5 star places all the time). Plus, the chair and sofa to sit, relax and watch tv, were a welcomed addition after walking around all day. It was like a little living room. Room and bathroom were very, very clean!!!
The bathroom is so much better than the pictures as well. Only odd thing, which isn't too odd in Europe, is no shower curtain around the bathtub/shower combo. They provide a water heater carafe for making free tea and coffee in the room. There was also a mini-bar. There was also free wireless internet connection that worked in your room as well as in public areas of the hotel.
We stayed in July, and no hotels have air conditioning so I was a little concerned, but there was a standing oscilating fan in our room for our use and we placed it at the foot of the bed at night and we didn't even need to open the windows at night. We were extremely comfortable. The day we were in Rothenburg was so hot too and we are from Florida so don't worry about the whole no air conditioner thing.
We peeked in other rooms when we were getting ready to leave and all the rooms looked very nice.
We only stayed here for 1 night and I wish we had stayed longer. We feel in love with the city and the shopping was wonderful. The nightwatchman's tour was fun too (no reservation needed, just show up in front of the city hall at 8pm for english tour, pay cash at end of tour).
