“Nice hotel, short walk from centre of Fussen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Before you arrive at this hotel you have to go through a tunnel in the mountain so a great entrance. The hotel is just outside of the main centre of Fussen along with many other hotels. The building is beautiful, very traditional. There is free parking at the front of the hotel.

We had a very large family room, very spacious but it was very hot as there was no air conditioning and no fans. It was all very clean and the shower room (no bath) was spotless.

We had a lovely veranda overlooking the mountains.

The hotel is a short walk to the town of Fussen, maybe ten minutes. And five/ten minutes drive to Neuschwanstein castle (which was fantastic).

There was free WIFI but it did not work in our room.

Breakfast was very nice. Lots to choose from.

The hotel is located in a peaceful surrounding. The walk to the town along the pretty river is nice and refreshing. The rooms are big with nice balconies. The mountain view from the balcony is very nice. Breakfast too consists of good varieties and a nice selection. The staff was courteous and helpful. We will definitely recommend this hotel to people of all ages and groups.

Absolutely enjoyed the stay at this fantastic hotel in a peaceful, scenic and beautiful location just a 10 minute riverside walk into Fussen town.
The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming and the whole experience was just delightful.
The room was clean spacious and well equipped. The bed was comfortable.
Breakfast had a great choice and was replenished when required without prompting.
It was my birthday during the stay and I arrived at breakfast to find a card from the staff and a complimentary bottle of champagne. Very impressed with the personal touch.
Great location for visiting the fabulous castles of King Ludwig II.
Stay here you will love it.

Found Fussen by accident and decided to come back for a quick visit en route to the Alps. This hotel is not that easy to find, but once you do, its worth it. The hotel is in a quiet valley with a lovely view. The hotel has a free parking area and an elevator. The restaurant downstairs seemed nice, but we didn't have a chance to eat there as it was too late when we arrived. Instead we walked to town (nice walk) and caught a late dinner there. The room was small but clean and very nice with a balcony. The beds were European firm, the water pressure was good. The bathroom was small, but it worked just fine. The breakfast was downstairs in the restaurant and we were told exactly where to sit for breakfast (unusual, but we assume that it is because the hotel was fairly full and they wanted to be sure they could accommodate all, including the larger groups). Breakfast was a nice variety of meats, cheeses, cereals, vegetables, jams, cakes, breads, juices, yogurts, and hard boiled eggs. I would have liked to have stayed an extra day or two to walk down the river and just enjoy Fussen and the hotel. Next time!

Like many others we decided to spend a night in Fussen between our cable car up the Zugspitz (fanastic) and touring crazy Ludwig's castles in the sky. We knew little about Fussen and picked the Weidemann based on online reviews. Our expectations were not high as we were looking pretty simply for a relatively nice place to spend the night.

After a difficult time finding the place (our GPS was not cooperating in Fussen) we finally found our way through a winding road through a rock ravine that led to a collection of resort hotels near the river.

Well, the Weidemann managed to exceed our expectations on several levels. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a nice bathroom and a terrace to sit outside. The breakfast room was extremely nice and the breakfast itself was quite generous and delicious. The staff, (except for the nervous little man in the breafast room who told us that we couldn;t take an extra roll for lunch - really?) were very nice and helpful. I can't imagine how hard it is to explain how to drive to the castles for the 1000th time.

The walk into town along the river was delightful and about 10 minutes. We even found a delightful Greek restaurant (2nd highest trip advisor rated reestaurant). We need a little break from the traditional German food. WIFI only worked in the restaurant area.

We were not overwhelmed with Fussen in general but we liked the Wiedemann. I suspect the hotel is attempting to make a transition from a time when people would come to enjoy a wellnesss spa to a more tranisent tourist clintele. I'm not sure how that is going but It met and exceeded our needs and we would reccomend it.

We (two couples) booked two rooms for one night. We were in the area to see King Ludwig's castles and were told Fussen was a pretty town close by. It is! The hotel is tucked away in a valley around the bend from the town with several other hotels. A serene setting. We were able to walk along the river to the main town. It was a lovely walk and much needed since we had just arrived that morning in Germany after a long flight from Canada. The hotel was very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We didn't take advantage of any of the spa services and we only ate breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast room was bright and inviting and the food was good. We had a car and there was ample free parking when we visited.

My only big gripe about this place is the wi-fi was terrible. It only worked in the lobby area, and you had to sign up which was confusing. The room was okay, and we didn't eat breakfast here so I couldn't tell you. The town of Fussen is pretty decent, and worth a few hours to check out. We stayed here to tour Neuschwanstein which was okay, but overrated.
