“Disapointing service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The hotel is really difficult to Find. We did Thanks to GPS. Upon arrival we had a warm bottle of champagne we were looking forward to share in our spacious room and balcony. No fridge or minibar in The room. So we asked for a bucket of ice, and got a plate with 5!! Icecubes, and The reply - If you want want champagne, you can BUY it here. Not The service we expected, and no Wi-fi service in The rooms.

Even though this is a large hotel and apartment complex (and even though we arrived a day early for our reservation), we received a warm and personal welcome. The area is a little way from the centre of Fussen through a gap in the rocks. I suspect that you can walk from there to the old town along the river, but we didn't try this. The double room we had was great - a huge balcony with lots of seats, spacious and well kitted-out. The single was at the back with no balcony, but still nicely presented.

Fussen's old town has lots of nice restaurants and other services and the famous castles at Hohenschwangau are in easy reach.

During our visit, parking spaces were at a premium, but the staff were helpful in finding us a spot.

Room Tip: Room 22 has a fantastic wrap-around balcony with great views.

The staff (restaurant, hotel and spa services) were particularly welcoming, helpful, and very accommodating. Since my German is not very good, all were willing to use English--and remembered me during my short stay. I love the location--easy and lovely tree-lined riverside walk into town, easy to park, and very quiet setting. I liked the "low" key atmosphere. Breakfast buffet is very good. I liked being able to book a massage and other services on site--but one needs to arrange them in advance. Hotel offers a half-pension, and although I didn't sign up for it, it looked very good. Good site for visiting the area and especially the chateaux of King Ludwig of Bavaria.

Stayed as a solo in August 2011. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, they would go out of their way to help you. Unfortunately, I was disappointed of the room. It had a nice balcony, but the furniture and bathroom seemed dated. Room size was ok. Remote control was broken, didn't work at first, until I took the batteries away and to inside again. Remote was dirty and disgusting to touch. No air conditioning in the room. Free wifi but only in the lobby. At breakfast I was seated next to other solo guests in a dedicated table. It felt a bit awkward, as I was expecting my own table. On the other hand it was nice talking other people all of the sudden.
My overall impression was that this hotel is maybe nice for families, but weird for foreign solo travelers.

We have just stayed three nights at this Hotel on our way back to the UK from Italy. The Hotel is in a lovely location, on the edge of Fussen, close to a park and only a short riverside walk to the town centre. We booked a family studio room for our stay which was tastefully decorated and was very spacious. The food was good and the portions were generous with a good selection on the menu. Breakfast was a hit with our two boys.
The Owners and staff above all make this a Hotel worth staying at.
From arriving at the hotel to leaving, we were very well looked after. We had a problem with our car and the Owners and staff achieved more liaising with a local garage than our international assistance! Switching effortlessly between German and English.
We would most certainly recommend this hotel and we will return again.

Room Tip: Studio in room 11 was perfect for a family of four with a sliding door to separate sleeping areas

We turned up in Fussen without a hotel booking, so went to a few hotels in the centre that seemed dull and expensive. We drove on a road leading out of the town and came across this hotel which was brilliant. As we were 'walk-ins' and they weren't very busy, we got a very big room with a lovely view for a reasonable price.
The room had 2 singles, a large sitting area and a brilliant balcony. The car park was free (unlike the other hotels in town) and the breakfast was very good.
The lady on reception was extremely helpful - she recommended Michelangelo restaurant - just a short walk along the river and it was there, with tables available in the Baroque garden.
She also gave us a voucher which gave us a discount of about 13 euros in total for 2 combined tickets to the royal castles in the area.
