“Simply fabulous and breathtaking!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

I stayed for two nights with my fiance and some friends at the Hotel Gästehäuser Hartung. Their website pictures just don't do it justice!!! It is situated right on the lake and behind the lake is a fabulous view of the Alps. Every morning i woke to open the curtains and there was the beautiful lake and the Alps. It literally took my breath away! There is nothing like sitting and enjoying your breakfast while you gaze out the window at the lake and the Alps. The rooms were nice with a table, chairs, and loveseat, small kitchenette, along with the double bed. The price was very affordable given the scenery and surroundings. There is a community dining room that is almost totally encased in glass which allows for a beautiful view of the Alps every morning. It is very Bavarian rustic....fabulous! The Gaste house cat, Missy gave me a wonderful warm morning welcome each morning :) There are nice paved walking trails around the lake, and I purchased a cappuccino and apple struesel at a cafe on the trail and walked halfway around the lake before breakfast. I highly recommend this! The staff were simply wonderful with their warm welcoming nature. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome...this included serving us wine and Bavarian beer when we arrived at 9:30 pm in the dining area, dispite the fact that it was getting late in the evening and most of the staff had gone home or retired for the evening. I really hope to visit this place again one day and hopefully stay much longer.

Went there for four nights. Two couples with two kids. The location and the view are breathtaking. Simon and his family who own the hotel are great, polite and available for help, information etc
Breakfast is very good home made. The overall value for money is aubeatable. Dont hesitate to book there. You wont regret it.

Thank you Simon for the hospitality

I stayed at this hotel on November 2008. I loved this place because the rooms were very cleaned, and the people who own this beautiful hotel gave us a warm welcome. We spoked in english because i didn't know german. The breakfast was excellent. Even if we went just one time, we will return for sure here. The view from the lake is awseomel, we visited the Castles who are near by and also the Spa (with thermal water). The hotel have also a sauna.

I have stayed here on two occasions (2004 and 2005) and plan to do so again.
This small pearl of a guesthouse/hotel is situated right beside the main road in the small village of Hopfen am See, and is only 5 km from Füssen.
The placement is absolutely wonderful, and from the balconies on the south side you have a great view over the Hopfensee and the Allgäuer Alpen, as well as even Schloss Neuschwanstein.
The hotel is very clean and quiet since it has no dinner restaurant. It is possible to book an apartment as a double room as well, and in 2004-5 this cost only 58 EUR for two persons - quite a steal!
Breakfast is served in a small room with a view over the lake as well, and is not huge but good enough. The owners are friendly but to not speak much english if at all, but with some basic understand of the german language, this shouldn't pose much of a problem.
The hotel is great to use as a base for exploring the surroundings - for example a day trip to München (Munich), Innsbruck, the obvious castles nearby as well as the wonderful wedding-cake Schloss Linderhof and its park, Zugspitze (Germany's highest mountain at 2963 metres), which can be reached both from Ehrwald in Austria via cable car, or from Garmisch-Partenkirchen via rack railroad and/or cable car (it is also possible to do this as a roundtrip). In addition, Oberammergau with its famous passion play (once every decade though) and the pilgrimage Wieskirche are also nearby.
