“Romantic Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

We had not booked before, but we were very welcome by Mrs. Hildegard and Mr. Arthur (they speak English). The room was very comfortable, with terrific decoration (all paintings and decoration were made by them) and hand-made furniture. Despite the location (one of the main entrance of the city), the place is quiet at night, so we had a perfect night. Breakfast was perfect for us, with sort of bread, cheese, ham, jelly, etc....
Car parking is on the street only until 10AM, but it is not a problem, there is a parking lot only 5 minutes away (free).
Two cons: curtains not block the morning light and some noise comming from the shower of the apartment above. Despite this, we had a nice stay there!

This inn is easy find on the Romantic road. Parking is easy, wi-fi and breakfast are included. The furnishings are off the hook romantic, and the linens are wonderful. The bathroom included a bathtub which is unusual for europe. If we are ever here again, we will stay here. The room we had was at the top of three stories (two for Europeans) and we climbed to the top so I would not recommend this for those requiring accessibility. The owners are wonderful, the husband is an artist and the wife makes an excellent european style breakfast in a charming environment. I highly recommend this inn, my husband lives it absolutely.

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the top for beautiful views.

Not to be missed. Our holiday's high point. Picture-perfect town and a too cute hotel/inn. Lovely host did her best to speak english. Easy to find, park in front of the property until 10 AM. Our room (#1) with original and antique-style furnishings. Comfortable 4-poster bed with lace curtains, matching green armoire. Windows look out to street and beautiful houses. Very good breakfast buffet served from antique carved-wood bar with brass railing in room that opens to a walled garden. A rounded archway dating 1536 with a heavy wooden door leads to the cellar and a tunnel that connected to the Youthhostel(formerly corn warehouse) further back. Two good Italian restaurants next door.

Room Tip: No elevator, just beautiful wooden staircase. Choose #1 or #2 if you don't like climbing.

The Hotel is situated just inside the Old Town walls and set amongst other stunning, character buildings. We had a very pretty room on the first floor overlooking the street. The big four poster bed was very comfortable and the little sitting area was a bonus. The room was clean, well appointed and WiFi worked brilliantly. The town really quietens down as night falls and we had no trouble with any noise from the street. Breakfast was more than ample and is set up in a charming downstairs room, overlooking a little courtyard. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful regarding the town and restaurant recommendations. The town is compact, so it is an easy walk to explore from the Hotel. The walls of the Town are really interesting, do allow time to walk the perimeter for some lovely sights.

We had driven all day and wanted to overnight outside Rothenburg. Parked and walked toward an outdoor restaurant and happened to see the Dinkelsbuehler. The husband and wife owners are delightful hosts! He is an artist and displays and sells his works from check-in area. She is extra nice and speaks English. The rooms are nicely decorated, bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was in a cozy room with beautiful antiques, a sideboard and help-yourself buffet. Since we were there on Easter Sunday morning, our eggs were served with little bunny or chicken 'hats'

We spent 2 nights in Dinkelsbuhl to explore the city and parts of the Romantic Road. It was much more affordable than the similar cities (Nordlingen & Rothenburg) with a nice charm. Early check - you must get there before 6 pm (the owners leave), so keep that in mind. Parking is limited with 4 spots and is only valid from 4 pm - 10 am - outside that you have to park outside the city walls. Our room faced the street and the restaurant nearby was very noisy late into the night. It was also very warm during our stay and there is no a/c or fans. Keeping the windows open at night resulted in lots of flies. Staff was friendly, room was cleaned during breakfast, and spacious. Breakfast was limited to rolls, cheese/cold cuts, and a soft boiled egg. No mini fridge, basic amenities, free wi-fi.

We went to the the night watchman tour, but would only recommend it if you speak German. It lasts about 1.5 hours.

If we were to do it again, we'd pay a bit more to stay in Rothenburg.

A delightful setting demands appropriate lodgings and Dinkelsbuehler Kunst-Stuben certainly provides that.

Set above a couple of delightful art shops, that the owners run, this delightful, genteel establishment really compliments any trip to Dinkelsbuhl. The rooms a comfortable and not over modernised and the hosts really make you feel at home.

That combined with a setting at the slightly less touristy end of town (though everything is still easy walking distance) allows you to feel slightly detached from the tourist trail whilst still enjoying this beautiful town.

Room Tip: It's not expensive - pay for the best
