Description: The cosy atmosphere of the Gewlbes in Ratskeller Augsburg is steeped in tradition and extremely inviting, and allows you to get away from the reality of everyday life for a few hours. Whether you opt for something substantial like the 'Wirtshaus classic', or a lighter option such as grilled pike perch on a bed of leaf spinach with lobster sauce and herb potatoes, or something sweet such as caramelised sugared pancake with roasted almonds, raisins and apple mousse, there is something to suit everyone's taste. Children and vegetarians are also well catered for. For example, food cooked in vegetable oil is marked up especially on the menu. Furthermore, the lunchtime menu changes on a daily basis. he drinks menu also caters to your every desire, with anything from cold beer to alcohol-free cocktails, that taste twice as nice during happy hour - anything is possible. As a thrilling alternative, a number of Murder Mystery Dinners are organised throughout the year in Ratskeller in Augsburg.

“One of the best places in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

In the bowels of the old city hall, there is the Ratskeller restaurant. Typical German cuisine, but very tasty and very good quality. Service was impeccable and fast, even though we were there on a Satruday night. Prices are very good, 8-10 EUR for a normal meal, 12EUR for pricier fare, 15EUR for a steak. I recomment to everyone but don't forget to book!

“You should see the speed that the staff clear the outside tables when it rains!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Excellent food, being veggie it can be quite difficult in a lot of German establishments but we found it had a reasonable selection. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very German (Yes, a good thing when holidaying in Germany).

“Pork knuckle and schnitzel....can't go wrong!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

Walking around Augsburg in the rain....not my idea of an exciting Sunday afternoon, desperately in need of AUDI style anti-hangover food...found just the place.
The restaurant is in the cellar of the town hall. Light and airy with beautiful brick vaulted ceilings.
The service was good although somewhat expressionless.....well, let's be honest...what do you expect, the staff take their job really seriously.
The food: Roasted pork knuckle (leg) with a dark beer gravy and potato dumplings, pork schnitzel and fries....simply lovely and great size portions. Needless to say hangover gone post food. The atmosphere was relaxed and was inhabited by young families with their possibly ageing parents, strangely enough looking like they belonged there.
The cost was cheaper than you would expect to pay in a London Pub but the quality far superior.
If you fancy some true to form Bavarian cuisine, I strongly suggest you try it. You can't go wrong, good quality and reasonably priced fare. There was also a first floor bar area that looked nice although we didn't go up there.

“Excellent - thoroughly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012 via mobile

The food, service and atmosphere were truly excellent and authentically German. Superb peppered steak for my wife and I has the crispy roasted pork which was absolutely the best. Service was fine considering the place was so busy and the building itself was great. Went here after reading reviews on trip advisor. Can only say that the person who wrote the review slagging the place off must be a rival. The review should be removed. This place is great.

“Nothing exciting here.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

I really don't understand how this place has got so many good reviews. The location is just a big cellar, the service is not exceptional, and our food was bland and tasteless. I really can't think of anything more to say.
