The Steigenberger Drei Mohren Hotel is also a member of the SRS World Hotel chain. Closely situated close to the railway station and historic zone along the famous Maximillianstrasse so provides easy access for excellent shopping and sigtseeing in the city. There is a private and secure carpark at the rear of the hotel. Look out for special offers on the SRS website as they offer some terrific deals from time to time.

Our deal for two nights included half board and added bonus was an upgrade to a suite with fresh fruit basket and free guide book of the city on arrival. Rooms are clean but are stating to look a little dated but nevertherless offers a relaxing stay. Excellent choice of hot and cold buffet breakfast with a squeeze your own fruit juice device. Children stay free.

There are two restaurants which we tried and found the food very satisfying, We had a meal at the french Bistro 3M and mediterranean Maximillians outside on the verandah and then onto the trendy Trio Lounge Bar, which I thoroughly enjoyed with its efficient and friendly staff. Internet access in the lobby available for a fee using the I-Bahn cards.

This hotel is thoroughly recommended hotel and its staff were faultless, very efficient and friendly service.

The Augsburg Drei Mohren is an excellent hotel, very clean, decent sized rooms by Euro standards, and incredibly heldful staff. The breakfast buffet is great, a wide variety of meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, bread etc... The hotel is very North American compared to some European hotels I have stayed in with a spacious lobby, internet access, 2 restaurants and a lobby bar. No gym or pool would be the downside. Very conveniently located within blocks of the Christmas market and the pedestrian zone.

Stayed at the Drei Mohren on business last week. Hotel is nice. Rooms are a bit small, but typical for Germany. The rooms at the Dorint are a bit larger. I think the rooms were redcently renovated mine was in good shape, everything working. Rooms have minibar (fridge) but no AC. AC is usually not a problem unless there is a heat wave like last year. Small (15?) color TV. Non-smoking rooms available. Parking lot right behind the hotel. Breakfast is typical German, cereals, some fresh fruit, fruit juices as well as squeeze your own OJ, meats, cheeses, several types of cold fish, bread/rolls, etc. Hotel has restaurant and bar/bistro, did not check these out. The best feature of the hotel is its right in the middle of the historic down town. You can walk to many restaurants/shops in ten minutes, so why eat at the hotel? Get good directions and a map before driving yourself. Since the hotel is in the historic area, many streets are either one-way or pedestrian only, so it's a bit tricky getting there. If you want to go to the historic area, stay here. If you just need a place to stay and aren't planning to go to the historic area much, stay at the Dorint.

We stayed at the Drei Mohren in July, and even though air conditioning was not available, we found the rooms cool and quiet and comfortable.

The in-house restaurant was excellent, and the service was consistent and high quality. Everyone we met was friendly and curteous and spoke English.

The hotel is centrally located to all the major city sights with churches, shopping and museums just a short walk away. There is a taxi stand just outside the front door, which is convenient when you have to leave for the train station.

My recommendation is a definite STAY. Yes, it costs more, but if you want a comfortable place to stay after nights of cramped tourist lodgings, this is the place to come and relax. It is a place where the phrase "you get what you pay for" is true.
