“Excellent location, large rooms, great restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

While the hotel would need a bit of refurbishment in some halls and passages to truly deserve the 4* status, the rooms are large and light, the location excellent and parking plentiful, and the service really deserves thumbs up - both w.r.t. restaurant, reception and cleaning.

The (large) size of the room we were allocated was helpful in sorting out all our cycling gear. Good large clean bathroom, comfy bed, safe place for bikes, easy getaway for the next stage of our Danube cycle ride.

Room Tip: ask for a corner room with two windows

Hotel is OK for overnight stay, nothing spectacular. Hotel staff was polite, but without any particular enthusiasm - we were professionally served, but it was quite formal. Interior is a little bit outdated, elevator has carpet on walls :-), halls look outdated as well - I was wondering is it about trying retro style or is simple old. Anyway it is clean and affordable.

Dear Aidasba,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are delighted to read that you have enjoyed your stay with us and consider your stay good value for money. There is no better learning tool for us than direct feedback from our guests and we have retrained our staff to provide the best to our guests at all times in reaction to your feedback. Hotel Weisser Hase is located in a historic building which was built in 1512. As the hotel is situated in Passau’s historic town center, we have tried to reflect both – the building’s history as well as the surroundings – in the interior and décor. The hall has been completely redesigned in 2010.
We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel!
Kind regards,
Front Office - Hotel Weisser Hase

In August 2012 We spent two weeks in Hotel Weisser Hase in downtown Passau Germany.
Our room was a larger one, with a couch, desk, two chairs, a dresser, and a large closet. It had two beds each 200cm long which were pushed together, to make a bed bigger than king size. The bathroom had a toilet, sink, mirror, bathtub(with shower in it), towel racks, heater, and hair dryer. It had liquid soap/shampoo/bodywash dispensers. It had plenty of space for us to unpack and be comfortable. The hotel has 3 elevators so there was no dragging luggage up stairs. The hotel is in the pedestrian zone at the edge of the old town. There is limited auto traffic from the hotel to the tip of the peninsula where the Danube and Inn rivers meet (the point), so it was a good base from which to explore the "old section". It is at the downtown edge of the old town, and so it was a mere 10 minute walk with luggage (less without luggage) to get from the train station to the hotel. It also is a 3 minute walk to a four story shopping mall in central Passau. It is a 15 minute walk from the hotel to "the Point". It took about 10 minutes to get to the river shore where the boat tours are docked. We loved the location. The breakfast buffet was extensive with lots of freshly baked breads, cakes, scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, soft boiled eggs and accompaniements. The hotel room was not air conditioned. It had two large windows and the room came with a high standing fan, and since it was August, we used the fan to quickly cool down the room when we came back in the evening. We are always up before 8 am and so the church bells which ring later than that did not bother us. I think the Sunday morning bells started bonging around 9. They add interest to the place.

This hotel provided a wonderful stay for our family. The hotel was very clean, quiet and spacious.

It is hard to find European hotels that can sleep 5 people in one room. Weisser Hase was able to accommodate our needs beautifully. The room was spotless. The beds were very comfortable, including the roll away one. The bedding was clean, crisp and fresh. The room was a nice size even by American standards. No A/C, which we were aware of when we booked. They provided a fan and we kept the window open. Street noise was never an issue.

Getting to the hotel was very simple. The location was perfect for walking around the town.

We had a rental vehicle and were able to park it in the hotel's under ground garage. Parking was very tight in the tiny garage to us Americans, but we managed.

The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options. Lots of meats, cheese, breads, pastries, fruits, yogurt, granola and soft boiled eggs. Good coffee too!

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We arrived very early, before our room was done (around 10am, arriving from the airport after an over night flight). The staff was wonderful about getting our room ready early so the kiddos could take a little nap. We returned to the hotel after the noon organ concert and our room was done. Can't beat that!

This hotel was an excellent choice for us and started our trip out on the right foot. Passau was a charming town that we enjoyed exploring.

A relaxed medium sized family hotel close to the centre of Passau. We were invited to take our bikes downstairs in the hotel lift so that they could be stored safely overnight.

This is an example of what Germany is very good at - a spotlessly clean family owned hotel at a fair price. The rooms are not overly luxurious and are very comfortable and had everything I needed. The room was a good size too. Although there was some construction going on at the rear of the hotel outside my bedroom it did not disturb me as it didn't start up until about 9am and was finished late afternoon. The staff was really friendly and nice.

The breakfast was a huge german affair with lots of chesses and cold cuts and pastries.

All in all a very good stay. The hotel is located right in the town centre but many roads are pedestrianised so it is quiet.
