My mom and I stayed at this hotel for one night during the Christmas markets in December 2011. First, the pros of this hotel: very good location, right by all the main sights in Nuremburg and right around the corner from the Christmas market; good price for such a central location; pleasant staff; breakfast was included and what we had was very good and what other patrons had looked really great; and a spacious, clean and cute room with small kitchen.
And now the huge negative, which will keep me from staying here ever again, was the rock-hard bed in our room. I usually like really firm mattresses, but I’ve never lain on a mattress this hard in my life. The one night we were there, my mom said she slept maybe an hour, and I think I slept maybe 3 hours, all because the bed was so hard. It was just impossible to get comfortable. Around 3 am I finally took my comforter (which was so dense and heavy that when it was on top of you it felt like one of those lead vests you wear during x-rays at the dentist) and laid it under myself to act as a feather bed to give myself a little bit of padding on top of the brick-like mattress. I was finally able to sleep a little then, but without that padding, I never would have gotten comfortable. Because of this one huge flaw, I just can’t recommend this hotel, even though it was otherwise pretty good. Also keep in mind that there are no elevators, which is fine for folks that are young and/or in shape, but my mom, who's 71, had a tough time with all the stairs up to our 4th floor room.
