“well situated and friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We stayed there for the Xmas markets in Nuremberg, and found the Hotel to be well located. It is only about 2 minutes walk from the U-bahn, which takes you into town in minutes and is easy to use (having only 3 lines); and just off the main road into Nuremberg. We even walked into the main Altstadt in about 20 minutes. The hotel is opposite a small shopping mall, with department stores and deli, where we could get lunches, wine and snacks.
We were welcomed with Gluhwein to warm us up, the children had hot fruit tea, and the English-speaking Owners/Staff were very friendly. Breakfasts were the usual continental fare, and plenty of it.
We (a family of 4) stayed in a lovely big room - 2 rooms really, with Tv and internet.

“Homely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

We have stayed first weekend of December in this hotel and found it very clean, nice and homely. On arrival we were welcomed with hot homemade wine and Christmas cookies. Young man at the reception gave to us city map and explained how to get to Christmas market and old town. Hotel itself is a few miles from city center but underground station is in short walk distance and you can get to the center in ten minutes.
All hotel staff was very polite, pleasant and anxious to help. Breakfast was also good. Really recommended hotel.

“Christmas Markets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Hotel Hamburg is a lovely, family run hotel located a few subway stops away from the center of Altestalt Nuremberg. Frau Behringer goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome and at home. She and her husband are more than willing to answer any questions one might have about the area restaurants, local customs, and area museums. My husband and I were fortunate to be there for Nikolaustag 12/6 or in English St. Nicholas Day and we were surprised to find chocolates and peanuts outside of our door! In keeping with the Christmas season,, when we returned in the evening we were greeted with a selection of cookies. The hotel's location away from the central downtown location has its advantages: the rooms were very quiet being on a side street and across the street from the hotel is a shopping center which includes a pharmacy, grocery store, and bakery. The room that we had was well appointed and fairly large by European standards and included a couch! Unfortunately the bath was a bit cramped but that often occurs when buildings are converted into hotels. Breakfast was included with the room and besides the normal German assortment of breads, muesli, yogurt, cheese, and cold cuts there were hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, and sausages. The subway stop is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and you are at the Hauptbahnhof in about 10-15 minutes. If you are interested in the Nuremberg Trials, the Palace of Justice is within walking distance or 1 subway stop of the hotel. If I am ever in Nuremberg again, I will rebook the Hotel Hamburg!

“Great Renovated Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This hotel was outside the city center but close (2 minute walk) to S-Bahn and one stop to old town center. Owners were gracious and hard working, providing excellent breakfast (5 Euros extra including scrambled eggs and bacon made to order!) Excellent English speaking owners/staff who gave great directions to Nazi Documentation Center; also gave dinner recommendations to the Brautwirst Rosti located in old city center which was great and affordable. Room was renovated, large and clean and the hotel was right across the street from a large grocery store, so lunches-on-the-go were possible. Parking was safe and free but tight on space for our large car. Small European models had no problem parking. The hotel is family oriented and has a minibar/refrigerator, free in-room wifi with good reception. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the street, as previous reviewers found noise; but we slept well in our off-s...

“Nice hotel - noisy location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

I had planned on staying two nights in the Hotel Hamburg for a night with my wife and daughter but ended up leaving after only one. The hotel itself is nice, clean and bright, but the weather was very warm when we stayed at the hotel which meant we kept the windows open for ventilation. Unfortunately the hotel is next to a busy street so we had traffic noise late into the night.

The location was good, just down the street from the Palace of Justice and a couple blocks from the underground. There is a nice Italian restaurant just across the street.

The breakfast was nice; hot eggs if requested, meats, pastries, fresh juices. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. If you choose to stay here be sure to say hello to Snoopy.

Pros: Clean, nice location, friendly hosts (and cat).
Cons: Noise from the nearby street, poor wifi signal.
