“Comfortable and Modern Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

My friend and I recently stayed in this hotel whilst exploring Nuremberg. The room was very modern and cozy with art features on their walls. The breakfast was good too and it was definitely value-for-money staying in this hotel. The location is great as it was only a very short 5 minute walk to the old town or Hauptbahnhof. Check-in was also efficient and fuss-free.

I really liked this small hotel - unlike others that have reviewed it, if I am paying three star prices, I do not expect five star quality. However, I do feel that the Art and Business hotel had a little more going for it than your average three star in the UK.

The location is good for a start. As you come to leave the railway station by the main exit, do not take the escalator down into the underpass which is marked as the 'To city centre route' Instead, go out of the main doors at street level and turn to the right. Almost directly in front of you you will see a post office/bank building with a yellow sign. On the corner where that building is, cross over the main road towards your left, across the tramlines. The street opposite is where the hotel is. It is on the right of the road, and has white 'HOTEL' letters on reddish squares. It is literally three minutes walk from the station.

All the local trams and buses seem to leave from the stops which you have just passed by whilst crossing the road. Whether a tourist or a business person, you can buy a two day travel card from the hotel reception for just over 6 euros. You can then just travel freely on the trams and buses and only have to show your card if asked.

There are eating places nearby, but the better quality ones are ten minutes walk or so away in the old town. There is a small Aldi supermarket in the next street to the left.

The rooms in the hotel are small as has been mentioned, but I felt it was unfair to say there was no wardrobe space - if you are staying a day or two, then I think getting 8 coat hangers and about three small shelves is adequate, and there is also a place to put your case near the window. From a business persons point of view, the desk area is not so comfortable, as the seat is backless. However the beds are extremely comfortable with really nice down duvets rather than microfibre as you get in a lot of cheaper hotels. If you are not happy with the pillow, you can get various other types from reception, as well as slippers or a bathrobe.

Whilst the bathroom is small,it is spotlessly clean like the room itself. I didn't test the TV, but the Wifi worked perfectly and was free even in your room.

There is no restaurant in the hotel ( I didn't expect this, it is only a three star!). However there is a nice bar area where you can get a large selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails for around 7-9 euros each, beers, soft drinks and wine. They even have wine tastings from time to time. There is an outside courtyard area with seating which would be very pleasant to sit in with a beer in the summer. The hotel offers bar about four small bar snacks ( quiche etc) as well as 'nibbles' to go with your beer.

We were quite impressed with the breakfast for such a small place - lots of different breads, as well as plenty of homemade stuff. The staff were friendly, especially the red haired lady who appeared on the second morning and chirpily chatted to everyone as she served them. The check in and out staff were really nice too and seemed happy to put their hand to any job in the hotel if it meant that the customers were happy.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again as it felt very relaxed and had everything I needed for a comfortable two day stay.

Room Tip: There are four 'superior 'rooms if you need something larger, but the standard one was perfe...

Only a couple of minutes from the main trainstation; in fact, one can walk from the train via the underground to close to the hotel. Hotel gives a relative new and modern (furniture) impression. The bedroom was relative small, but had a large bathroom. It was clean and all services available, including free WLAN. I enjoyed the breakfast, offering a good selection. Walking to downtown is about 5 minutes.

This hotel is perfectly situated half a block from the train station and a couple of blocks to the old town. The price is very reasonable and the staff engaging and helpful. At these rates it is great value for money and included a great breakfast each morning. The rooms are spacious and wireless internet worked flawlessly.

I used to stay in this hotel many times during 1,5 years period. I get used to it, I feel like at home :)
Rooms: Perfectly clean. Quite small, but enough, and rooms are nicely furbished with style.
Other areas: lobby is specious and nice to spend time with friends. It is not a big hotel so do not expect huge hall.
Breakfast: Good selection, but not standard "English breakfast", which is nice you easily getting tired with "standard" stuff in "standard" hotels.
Bar: not cheap but good selection.
Free WiFi.
Checkin/Checkout: effective, receptionists speaks good English and very friendly.
Location: very good, close to city center and to train station. Maybe not too many places to eat in the evening near by. Some Nuremberg hotels are better located - closer to good food :)
Other issues: no parking in hotel (nearest is at the train station).

Very convenient location just 3 mins from main station & old town pedestrian zone (though actual block & view from windows rather drab - some cheap office/other hotel buildings). Brilliant staff, very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast, in very pleasant area, with a gorgeous patio garden (one can also eat alfresco!) The single room is well appointed, decent size (large bed - though mattress too hard for my taste) and everything spotless clean and in good working order, including the very nice bathroom/shower, but something about the decor (beige faux-satin curtains, 70s-style rough render on the walls, fluorescent lighting...) made the ambience a bit colder and drabber than the rest of the hotel - the corridors are more cheerful and design-conscious than the room, which is rather odd... but this is a very small (and subjective) issue!
Overall, the hotel is fantastic value for money and a really good choice, especially for business trips, when the view or the decor/ambience of the room are really not that important :-)

I really liked this hotel a lot. I chose it partly because it was one of the few hotels in Nürnberg that included AC, and having spent one miserable trip to Europe during a heat wave, I had no desire to repeat that experience. But it was actually cool and rainy this time.

First, location: if you arrive by train as I did, exit the Hauptbahnhof, and go along the street to the right. After you pass the yellow post office on your right, you'll go a few meters further and then turn left across the busy street, including the tram tracks. You should be crossing directly onto Gleissbühlstrasse (there will be an U-Bahn entrance right on the corner), and the hotel is just 20 meters or so up. It has a vertical sign that says "hotel" with red letters on white squares.

It's a very modern, stylish hotel, which I loved. Don't come here if you want old-world charm. There's plenty of that in Nürnberg elsewhere. My single room was average sized by European standards, but included a full-size bed, highly unusual for an Einzelzimmer. Very slick and comfortable with neat art on the wall. Free wireless! (Very unusual for Germany.) The desk chair was an upholstered cube, so a bit hard on the back, but it was to save space. The bathroom had a red shower that I loved, and mirrors, dryer, etc. I'll help you out right now: to access the soap in the bottles in the sink and shower, just squeeze. I spent a while trying to find a button or something to twist. But you just squeeze them. Bed was comfortable, window had two panes that completely cut out all outside noise. In fact one of my favorite things about this place was how quiet it was. Even though they were sold out, I heard nothing except occasional people in the hall.

The breakfast was included and was excellent. Great homemade jams and jellies, sausages, eggs, multiple juices, breads, pastries, meats--everything. My other favorite thing about this hotel was the lovely red-headed lady at breakfast each day. She was so warm and welcoming, she always put me in a good mood. They also had a wide variety of newspapers in various languages that you could borrow to read while having breakfast (which was right off the very modern lounge area next to the desk). There was also a nice courtyard where you could eat if you wanted, and many people did when the weather was nice.

They were very accommodating in general. I originally had two reservations with a break in between, and decided to cancel my side trip. Due to a cancellation, they were able to accommodate me for an extra day and smoothly handled changing my booking. They loaned me an iron and ironing board as well, and gladly stored my luggage at checkout. About the only downside was that a lot of the time there was no one at the front desk. They seemed to often have only one person working in the hotel much of the time, so it might be hard to get help (but you probably won't need much help here--everything works great, including the AC which I turned on briefly to cool things down at night after closing the window).

The location near the Hauptbahnhof might put you off. Don't worry. The sleazy train-station neighborhood is to the south. You're to the north, right next to the Altstadt. 5 minutes walk will get you in the Altstadt and quick acces to museums, pedestrian areas, etc. It's also easy to get on the U-Bahn, as the entrance is practically at the front door. And you can go to the Hauptbahnhof for snacks because things are open late there.

I highly recommend it, and would definitely stay again.
