“This is how 4 stars hotel is supposed to be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

This is how a 4 stars hotel is supposed to be - excellent service at the reception, spacious, bright, clean room. Everything is well maintained and very clean. The best bathroom I have seen in any hotel. Very well situated - right at the centre and has own parking garage as well, which was not expensive. Very comfortable beds and pillows. We did not have breakfast at this hotel.

Good hotel with excellent beds, good shower.
1 minute to shopping streets and 10 to historic centre.
Parking 12 euro per day.

Did not have breakfast since there are many opportunities within 5 minutes walking.
Try Cafe Beer (cafebeer.de) for a German "Konditorei" experience.

Avoid Barfusser for dinner: bad quality and very plain food.

This is going to be a pretty short one for me.

I am happy to mark this hotel above average as it worked very well for me. I was booked in as part of a group and found a comfortable room, with effective air-con, decent facilities, free tea/coffee and soft drinks, helpful staff.

My room was rear facing and I found it to be quiet.

The underground car park is extremely convenient. Note that it is 12 Euros per day, as noted on the machine from which you take your ticket.

My satnav directed me right to the front door using the address on the hotel's web site.

I did not eat in the hotel.

The bar service was helpful and I didn't think it was overly costly.

I found no impact from the hotel's location near to other local attractions.

I stayed in June 2012, staying in a Superior room at the front of the hotel.
Access was excellent being just a few metres from Weisser Turm Metro station. Signage from the station exit is excellent – you can’t miss it.
I arrived very early at about 11.30 having flown in from UK, and expected to just dump my bags before a trip out to Bayreuth. Reception was very obliging and gave me a key to the room straight away. Very welcome.
The room was good. Not sure it was a king sized bed as booked, but for one person was all I needed, especially for what was a good rate. Arriving back at 11pm on a Friday night, I expected from previously reviews that it could be “lively” outside. It wasn’t. It was very quiet with little going on and thankfully no noise going straight through to the morning. I also got free wifi whilst there – why can’t Holiday Inn do this in UK as well!
Breakfast was extra at €15 but very good. You need to be hungry to get value as it is an expensive option if only there for coffee & a snack.
Overall I’d not hesitate to choose the hotel for a revisit if rates held.

The penthouse room was really nice. We got upgraded because they didn't have anymore rooms so they honored our reservation by bumping us up! Two bathrooms in the penthouse room. Location is kind of wierd - red light district. The hotel bar/restaurant is actually pretty good (can't believe I said that). But great for drinks and charcuterie/cheese.

I stayed at the HI Nurnberg for four nights during the Inner Zoo Trade show in May. I found this hotel to be clean, friendly and in a good location. It is a few blocks from all the shops, food and the metro that takes you the the convention center. It is also "within the city walls" which is pretty cool. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station and requires a taxi (10 euros). The hotel is right around the corner from the red light district but it was ok for me since unless you go around the corner, you dont see it. I came home at 1 am one night and the street seemed safe. I didnt have any problem with noise but my room faced the back of the hotel.

The hotel's pricing was REALLY inflated due to the show. The hotel has a good breakfast and is "American Style". It also has a nice bar. The water pressure was good and the rooms were good sized. There is also a good gym in the hotel. If you want a propper gym, there are two within two blocks from the hotel.

The only slight observation about this hotel is that it seems not to be a true "business hotel". Their front desk staff arranges all your requests (taxi's, reservations etc) which at times created lines at the front desk since they had to do this while taking care of regular business. I would add a guest service person to handle during their peak times. They also had some challenges getting our Fex Ex package out.

I would stay again, especially if going to the convention center or want to be within the city walls.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing street

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. It is clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and English friendly. The location was OK... inside the city wall, but on the very edge, right next to the red light district. During the day it's fine but it can get a little loud at night. I slept through the noise, but my husband was woken up by some car revving the engine. It didn't ruin the stay.
They had plenty of parking in a very secure garage. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had in Europe. I would stay here again.
