“Don't miss one of the best views in town!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

St. Sebaldus is a cool church with a cool history. The towers remained standing through the devastating bombings of WWII. There are photos throughout the church showing the ruins of everything around and the rebuilding.
We somehow missed the tower visit area but saw the people on top of a tower while we were up on the castle looking down over the city. The view from the Sebaldus towers must be amazing. and especially of the Weinachtsmarkt!
Definitely worth checking out!

“Both stunning & sobering to contemplate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

This is the oldest of Nuremberg's churches--dating from 1230. The church features beautiful carvings and houses a silver coffin from 1397 (with the relics of St. Sebadus). The various columns have photos of the destruction of the church in the WW2 bombing raids along with parts of a poem about the horror and destruction of the building. To think that the present building rose from the ashes of destruction depicted in the photos is absolutely stunning. Don't miss this.

“Beauty amidst the terror”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Unbelievable to see the survival of buildings such as this when so much of the country was destroyed. Doing a great job on reconstruction. Beautiful building. Lots of stained glass

“under construction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

This church is undergoing some major construction and in the inside several parts are blocked for viewing. It is interesting to see inside pictures which show how the church was damaged during the last world war and how it was rebuilt again. On the other hand one cannot escape the feeling that they try to work your emotions and hope that you pay handsomely to sponsor their current refurbishments. Moreover, there is not so much other special to see inside. Germany has many nice churches. The outside of the church is more impressive with its two towers which can be seen from far away in Nurnberg.

“Very photogenic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Just like most of the old buildings in Germany, this one too had to be re-built because of war damage. They have done a fantastic job and you will love the results. The building makes for some great photos.
