“Good collections”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

It is worth visiting this museum as it very much focuses on German art and culture. Therefore it is not one of those museums which holds international collections so you could be in any European capital. There is much to see and could be worth more than one visit if you want to do it all in detail. The collections are well exhibited, but because the museum is in a number of separate building all linked at ground or first floor level you can feel you climb a lot of stairs.

“So much to see in so little time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

For museum buffs, this is a must. However, the collections are so vast that it is hopeless trying to see them all, even over a couple of days. The prehistory section was one of the best we have seen. Loved the medieval art as well as collections of old scientific instruments. One complaint, though, as you went higher in the building, I.e. to the upper floors, the English translations disappeared from the displays. We spent one day there and really only skimmed through many galleries.

“Huge and diverse, but wish the signage was better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Ther German National Museum has a wide selection across multiple centuries - from Stone Age to 19th century - in a large building that is unique to walk in all by itself. Some displays have English translations, but not all. More disappointing, many displays show only an item title and date, but little other information on significance or historical use - the background information that makes a museum really interesting.

“There're many items”

It's difficult to see all for a short time. And you can take pictures here. I hope you enjoy paintings and more.

“German National Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

This is an all day experience if you really want to see and experience it all. It is very much like the Smithsonian. Just when you think you have seen it all, you walk into another gallery and see more. Originally I wanted to see some of Albrecht Durer's works. Three hours later they were signaling it was time to leave for the night. Give yourself plenty of time and enjoy.
