“Nice hotel with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

I stayed overnight at the Schindlerhof during a business seminar. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Small gestures (such as screen cleaner being placed next to the laptops in the seminar room) make a massive difference and are not common nowadays. The coffee breaks were a pleasure, a small bar serving a variety of coffees and snacks but one never had the feeling one had to wait long. A must nowadays, fulfilled by the Schindlerhof, is free WLAN with good connectivity.
The hotel itself is spread over a small area, with the rooms in separate houses, each in itself unique. The room I had was compact, clean and quiet. A cosmetic bar is available in the room for guests who had forgotten their toothbrush or tooth paste or other toiletries.
The restaurant was pleasant and the food (buffets) was excellent. Breakfast consisted of a variety of hot and cold choices - I would have liked to have been offered freshly cooked eggs rather than the somewhat solid scrambled that was offered.
I can genuinely recommend the Schindlerhof for any business meetings and possibly for a private stay if visiting Nürnberg. The hotel is only a short distance from the airport – but not directly over flown so aircraft noise was not a problem.

I have been in this hotel once. This is a very nice family run 4 star hotel with very nice and large rooms. The service is very friendly at this place. The hotel has a good restaurant as well, however I have not eaten there. Breakfast is great at this hotel in a very nice breakfast room with all one can imagine. There was nothing to complain from my side.

A very good place for a business conference centre. Small details are taken care of and the food is good. Annoying that there are no english or other foreign TV channels but otherwise an excellent place.

Room Tip: Book the penthouse rooms

Located very far away from Nuremberg's city center and even farther away from the exhibition center but at least close to Nuremberg airport.
The choice of restaurants and shops nearby is very limited (but there's a furniture discounter...).
Breakfast is great, (almost) everything you might fancy is actually served.
They have a fitness center with a sauna but no pool.
Schindlerhof's parking spaces fill up very quickly - as the hotel is very popular for meetings, you can expect that all year there is either a big exhibition in Nuremberg or a meeting at the hotel.
The hotel consists of several smaller buildings so you walk outside when going to the gym, bar, breakfast room etc. with a chance of bad weather. At least they offer free umbrellas.
The restaurants on site are good but quite pricey.
The bar is extremely small so sitting there (standing is more likely) is not really comfortable.
The rooms are a mixed bag – there are rather bad single rooms (very small and very stuffy when it's warm) but also very nice ryokan style rooms. These come with views to a pond in the inner courtyard and, despite the name, have western furniture (desk, chair, lounge chairs, coffee table). No minibars.
The hotel is one of the most popular in Germany and the staff & service are definitely excellent but for me the downsides such as inconvenient location, long walks to the different parts of the hotel and some rather poor rooms (not to mention the rather high prices) outweigh the advantages.

Stayed here on business for several nights. The level of service throughout the hotel is great, food is fantastic and the Ryokan style Japanese rooms are well thought out and interesting. Definitely makes a change from typical business hotels. Convenient location for Airport and for Erlangen, though a bit far away from Nuremberg city centre.

However, I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay, although there are still some areas that could do with updating e.g. gym and sauna etc.

Overall: fantastic.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on business. Room and bed were clean and comfortable. Nice touches like a CD player with CDs to choose and candles you could light. Room was quite large. Bathroom was also nice. No complaints at all.
Restaurant was very good - had one dinner there. Has outdoor dining area which I ate in since the weather was nice.
Breakfast is substantial, very fresh, with wide selection of hot and cold foods.
Service at both dinner and breakfast was very attentive without being annoying. Service at front desk also very good, including a refreshing drink when you check in.
Should note that this hotel is well outside of the city but convenient to the airport.

  • Liked — extra touches - not like a hotel chain - and the breakfast was incredible
  • Disliked — nothing nearby to do
  • Tips/Secrets — Have dinner outside in the restaurant
