“A Good Place to Stay in Nuremberg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We stayed here for one night before a river cruise.

Property location is excellent. It is near the Albrecht Durer House, and a short walk to the market square. It seems a very safe area, and there were restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel public areas are attractive and well-maintained. There is a breakfast buffet, which is very good, although not free.

Our room was on the top floor. It was very clean, but the elevator does not go to the top floor, and it was oddly laid out, with the bathroom accessible by climbing four or five steps. There was a lovely patio, with a view of the Kaiserburg castle.

The stairs did not turn out to be a problem, as our baggage did not arrive in Nuremberg when we did (which is why we usually arrive the day before the cruise). The front desk staff was very helpful in communicating with the airline's lost luggage office, and storing our luggage after checkout in their very restricted space behind the desk, while we did a little more sightseeing before heading to the port to meet the ship.

All in all, a very good stay, and I would recommend the Agneshof.

I booked this hotel because of its location in the old part of the town. Due to reasons too complicated to retell we had to hire a car for our stay. Be very careful about the height of your hire car as parking is restricted. During our stay the car was damaged in the car park by a careless guest so take out extra insurance! The hotel was clean and tidy but our room was tiny with the most bizarre window in the bathrom that overloked the bed so you could see your companion on the toilet. If you drape the showeur curtain over the towel hooks it gives a modicum of privacy. We overlooked the front of the hotel and it was quite noisy and the very small thin curtains did not keep out the street lighting. We hung our towels over the curtain rail to keep out most of the light. The proximity of our room to the lift made the use of earplugs essential. Each morning we had a little chocolate on our pillow but it would have been nicer to have a bottle of water as we had when we first arrived. There are no tea making faciities but if you buy a flask they will fill it for you.
Breakfast was excellent and the locaton was superb, lots of fab resturatnts for evening meals. The tourist information is only a short walk away too. We can recommend The Hutte for good value meals. Overall we enjoyed our stay and i have only remarked on the negatives so that you will be prepared for them. The staff were very helpful and we would certainly stay there again and recommend it wholeheartedly. I possibly would opt fot a larger room and a better view!

We sorry to hear that the small bathrom window were not to your liking and that the comfort of your stay was interrupted by street noise. We stayed in this hotel in 2006, although I am reviewing it as part of our return trip to Nuremberg in Oct 2012. It is quite close to the Albrecht Durer Haus museum, as well as the castle. We arrived in Nuremberg by train, then took a bus to a nearby platz (plaza), and walked to the hotel on the small street Agnesgasse, named for Durer's wife. It is a small hotel, belonging to the Best Western group in Germany. Rooms and service were typical of this class of hotel and were fine.

We stayed here for three nights while visiting Nuremberg's Christmas Market last year. The hotel was excellently situated in the old city, steps from the market and other downtown sites. Like many German hotels, it was relatively basic and unadorned, but very efficient and adequately appointed for a short stay. Very clean and comfortable. I did not have a car with me so cannot comment on parking.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at this lovely hotel, and were very pleased. We were in room #403, which is large, and well appointed. We had our own spacious balcony, with table and chairs for enjoying the view of the castle. Our bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. The shower is very large, and a welcome change from those in other hotels. If you get a room on the top (4th) floor, you will have to walk up one flight of stairs, as the lift only goes as far as the 3rd floor. Our room was more than worth carrying our bags up i flight! The staff very friendly and helpful. We really liked the location as we could walk to the main market in about 5 mintes. Highly recommend.

It was the first time I have ever been asked how tall my car was. Cars are stacked in an underground garage (entrance around the corner) with easy access to the hotel. The couple ahead of us at reception had a much bigger vehicle and there was much discussion about parking.

The location was excellent between the castle and the main square of the old town. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet (7 Euros was very reasonable for what was available) and the coffee pot was on the table. The room was small but very clean and quiet. I would recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

Hello egreenway, thank you for your feedback on your most recent stay and your recommendation. We are so pleased to see that we delivered the service you were expecting and that our location worked for you and your visit. Concerning your comment on our underground garage - the headroom of the garage is 1.5 meters. Unfortunately our garage is unsuitable for high cars. We are looking forward to welcoming you back. We spent three nights here and felt so fortunate to have chosen it. Everything about Agneshof was super, but the location really set it apart. It's within walking distance of everything; yet the street is quaint and quiet. Our room was basic, not much character, but completely functional. On the other hand, the breakfast was fabulous as was the entire staff. We would definitely stay here again--we wouldn't consider any place else.
