“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

I arrived on a Sunday evening for a business meeting early on Monday. Not a perfect start into the week, I thought. Would have rather stayed at home. But then, if you have to stay in a hotel on a business trip on Sunday, you could hardly find a better place than this one. Excellent, friendly service, very clean rooms, nice room. I think I was lucky and got upgrade to a lovely room on the 7th floor, with balcony, overlooking Nürnberg. And the clubs sandwich with chips that I enjoyed sitting on the balcony was just excellent. I would stay here again anytime.

Room Tip: 7th floor, room with balcony. Fantastic.

We arrived by train so could walk to the hotel. The location is outside the city walls but as we like to walk everywhere this didn't prove an issue for us, but may for some. The hotel has a modern look and feel but is nowhere near a 5 star or even really, to be honest, a 4 star. Our room was large and reasonably well equiped but very tired and in need of an overhaul. We had just arrived from The Westin in Frankfurt and for a similar price there is really no comparison - the Sheraton was a very poor relation.

The staff are, however, fabulous. We were caught up in the terrible snow conditions just before Christmas and everyone could not have been more helpful checking the forecast and train schedules for us.

We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on this.

Just be aware that this is not a true Sheraton, it is a franchise owned by a German hotelier so the standard is nowhere near what one could expect. The price is way too expensive for the facilities, at half the price I would have been satisfied but the lack of hotels in Nuremberg has encourged massive overpricing.

Stayed in this property for one night prior to joining a river cruise for Christmas Markets. The hotel itself was excellent, with 4.5 star level amenities. The only thing missing was an in room coffee service. What made it special was a very friendly, helpful staff that made our stay exceptional. (During this trip we stayed in 3 other hotels, all officially rated 5 star; we enjoyed this one more.)

The property is a 1.5 city block walk from the western exit of the Nuremberg Main train station. Incredibly convenient. Check in was a pleasure with front desk staff that was helpfull without being overbearing. The room was large, (Huge by European standards) comfortable and quiet. 1 hour of free internet was included, which was adequate to check e-mail and messages. The Bar is a local legend and a warm inviting place. The restaurant was very good although it was virtually deserted the night we ate there. An excellent buffet breakfast was included with our room.

As we were there during December (cold and snowy) we did not explore the rooftop area that appears to be a popular summer spot, so no comment there.

We really enjoyed Nuremberg as a city and look forward to visiting again. The Christmas market is to be Highly recommended.

This hotel was nice but how it has 5 stars I don't know. The front desk was efficeint, the rooms nice and spacious with comfy bed and decent bathroom and the breakfast was ok. In summary a decent hotel - and was good value for money but anybody expecting a top of the range 5-star hotel will be disappointed as it lacks the quality (i.e. food in restaruant), the deluxe touches and elegant feel to be truly a 5-star hotel. The nightime dining options at the hotel are also quite limited but there is a cheap and cheerful pizzeria over the road. I'm not sure if i would stay again as i would prefer somewhere with a bit more character and located within the walls of the old town.

We stayed at this hotel with one hour's notice... we requested interconnecting rooms which were all ready on arrival. The room service was perfect as was the breakfast. Nothing seemed too much. We stayed for one night only en-route through Germany. Check-out was immediate. Altogether a very good experience.
