My wife and I are Diamond HH and have stayed in many Hiltons around Europe as well in other parts of the world over the years. This property is listed as a "Category 7" for reward purposes but is more deserving of a 4 or 5, in my opinion. The location is not within reasonable walking distance of anything except the adjacent soccer field. There is no "Executive Level" that I can discern nor is there an Executive Lounge. The Business Center consists of 1 computer and printer located next to the front entrance. We used HH points to book our room but were not offered an upgrade despite our Diamond status with HH. (I presume that this was because the hotel was relatively full. I still would expect the manager to review all incoming HH reservations the evening before to ensure appropriate upgrades are offered, or if not available then the guest informed of the reason.) There was a coffee/tea setup in the room but no slippers, bathrobe or even free water. The view was nondescript. We did not get the usual personalized manger's welcome letter (almost always get this a HH Diamond) nor a call from the front desk people after we were situated in our room asking us whether everything was ok.
On the positive side, there is designated parking outside for HH and HH Diamond members. We were offered breakfast coupons and given a set of 3 24-hour Internet access codes. (Expected for Gold HH and above.) The front desk did their best to accommodate us and get us into our room quickly despite us having arrived early. For the short period we had to wait we were given free coffee coupons for their adjacent lounge. The room was plain but adequate.
We drove in from Heidelberg where we stayed at the local Marriott. We only have Gold status with Marriott (similar to Gold HH) but at the Marriott they did everything right and we are eager to go back there. Prior to that we stayed at one of the few remaining Paris Hilton's (at CDG airport) and were pleased with that experience as well, despite it's location being 35 minutes by train from Paris center. This is my second stay at the Nuremberg Hilton in that past 6-7 years so I don't have cause to come here often. That fact makes me happy but it shouldn't. Nuremberg itself is an international destination and deserving of a nicer Hilton property, not one that reminds you of a Hilton Garden Inn.
Overall assessment: acceptable, if you're expectations aren't too high.
