“Not bad for exhibitions, not good for a city visits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2011

Hotel is places just beside (and almost as a part) of the FC Nurnberg football club. It is typical business (and sport) hotel. Rooms not modern but clean and not very tired.
I may return for visit of exhibition but I would not recommend for the city visits (I guess that the distance is 5 km+ and all in busy streets which means that your trip to the centre (your car or taxi) can prolong even to 30 minutes. Parking space is open air and if I remember well it should be free.

Okay room but a very bad service, not normal standard for Germany or Hilton chain. First our room was missing the extrabed, arriving at midnight it would be nice to have the room in order. Second the room was with carpet and smelled of smoke, not okay since we booked non smoking and without carpet.

The service at frontdesk not friendly nor the service in the breakfast. Showing customer bad attitude shouldnt be okay in Hilton hotels.

I really cant recomment this hilton hotel!!!

My children and I stayed at the Nuremberg Hilton for a few days and ended up extending our stay for a week. We loved the Nuremberg area, and we enjoyed the low-cost of such a nice hotel. For those complaining of location, the Hilton site clearly shows a map where you can see the location of the Hilton in respect to the middle of the old town. If you want to stay in Old Town, look at a map and plan to pay more for something that is of the same star rating. Hilton Nuremberg is located on the outskirts of town but by no means rural, it's in the "burbs" and is totally convenient to a direct bus that is 13 quick stops (13 stops, 13 minutes) to the castle walls of Old Town. The bus is located right next to the parking lot and it's cheap.

If the bus (which is really clean - and we just came from Vienna - the Nuremberg bus system is much cleaner) is not your style, the Hilton will call you a taxi. Ask for a taxi that takes credit cards and they will send you one without having to use your Euros all of the time. We had no problems getting a cab that took credit cards, and they didn't charge extra. For most of our trips, it was 10 Euro, sometimes less.

I appreciated the "security" in the Hilton. Guests have to use their room key to access the elevator or pool, and the elevator will only take you to the floor on which you are registered. We used the restaurant downstairs with the "magician" who was nice and entertaining, and the food was very good. We also used room service several times and found the food to be very good and the price was comparative to other Hiltons and/or going to a nicer restaurant.

We also had no problem getting extra towels, extra pillows, etc. We also asked for someone to come and open our windows so that we could get more of a breeze (otherwise, they only open at the top), and they were quick and great about that.

After check in, we had a rollaway bed delivered so that we could spread out more, and our room had complimentary water and gummi bears (cute). A few minutes after we checked into our room, room service came with complimentary grapes, apple and cheese. Our mini bar was stocked - we took most of the stuff out of the fridge to make room for our own stuff - but later in the week, we made use of a couple of juices and waters. We were only charged for what we used, and I am pretty vigilant about checking receipts.

We had to take my daughter to the hospital when we were in Nuremberg (for dehydration), and the hotel was fantastic about calling a taxi for us and checking in on us when we got back.

We plan to return to Nuremberg in a couple of years and we will be staying here again. We are Hilton Honors Gold Members, and we received a complimentary room upgrade as well. We also received complimentary internet for most of our stay and complimentary breakfast for several of our mornings. THe breakfast was INCREDIBLE. We have stayed at a lot of hotels, and this breakfast was wonderful - very German, and it was appreciated. No prepackaged American muffins or inedible faux eggs.

My kids enjoyed the pool, which is roomy and has fun floating toys and swim floats to use, and I enjoyed the ample lounge area nearby.

Room Tip: Be a Hilton Honors Member, call prior to arrival

I stayed here for one night on business and was very disappointed. While the hotel looks modern form the outside, it is quite dated on the inside. The room was very plain and not at all luxurious. I don't know where they got the pictures on their website from but my room didn't look anything like them. It was not what I would have expected for $250 Euros per night. The parking lot was full when I arrived due to the conference center and I had to park quite a distance from the entrance. The only plus was that the hotel bordered the FC Nuremberg training ground so I could watch their training. There was also a team store onsite so I was able to buy a jersey for my son.

3 1/2 star hotel located in the outskirts of the city, not very luxurious as such but still quite a good choice. Review based on a two night stay in December’10 (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe)

Location:
Hotel is located maybe 5km away from the city centre & Altstadt, immediate neighborhood is rather quiet though for the fans of 1. FCN (the football club) I would assume this is close to heaven since the club, fan shop, ticket office, training grounds, spa etc are all located in the same premises with Hilton. Before/after the game there’s probably quite a lot of action going on around the hotel.

A summer biergarten next to the hotel, Burger King 100m meters away. That Burger King has to be the most imposing fast food restaurant ever, being located in a former Nazi Germany marble building! 500m away there are number of supermarkets (such as Lidl).

Bus 44 goes right next to the hotel towards city centre and S bahn (local train) station is also within walking distance so public transport connections are rather good.

For people interested in recent history there’s of course the Reichsparteitagslelände (Nazi Party Rally Grounds), located maybe 2km from the hotel. Well worth the visit to see the megalomaniac constructions still standing, such as Congress Centre, Grosse Strasse and of course Zeppelin Field.

Forest is right next to the hotel so joggers should be fine here.

Room:
As Hilton Diamond member I was upgraded to a large (deluxe?) room in 3rd floor, which was refurbished to a quite modern décor not so long ago. Room was in good shape, clean and no signs of usage anywhere. A bit of flashback though was the traditional small “tube TV”.

I received two bottles of water (new bottles every day) and some fruits & snacks on the first day.

Etc:
There’s no Executive Lounge in this hotel.

Breakfast was not quite up to the best Hiltons in Europe (such as Stockholm or Arc De Triomphe in Paris) but good nevertheless. Quality of the food was nice and selection was rather extensive.

Check-in & out were handled very efficiently in a fast but still friendly fashion.

Would I return there?
Yeah sure, it’s not quite in the city centre but offers all the functions one would expect in a reasonable price. Not a luxury place but rather "3.5" or "4-" star

I am a Hilton Gold, travel a lot on business - stay in many different Hilton properties. This one is below par on all levels.

Arrived on a cold, snowy night for 4 nights at about $300 per night. Their free parking lot was full of soccer fans attending a local game. They make no attempt to control its use. No bellman available to help with luggage (the lone young lady on the desk offered but I declined).

Asked for an extra bath towel. Told there was a laundry problem and no extra towels were available.

Went to dinner at 6 PM. Advised they do not serve dinner until 7 PM. Ate a pizza and salad in the bar instead.

Road weary and looking forward to a long, hot bath, we discovered no hot water.

Rooms are dated modern - very sterile. Lamps not working, a foot stool entirely of foam - collapses when you sit on it. Sewer gas smell in bath room. Poured water in the floor drain to reseal the trap - seems to have taken care of that problem. Beds very soft.

Only positive, deluxe rooms are large.

Internet, if you have to pay, is one of the most expensive I have ever seen. Only Dubai Hilton is more expensive.

The whole hotel seemed to be on a skeleton crew with inadequate help. One of the poorest managed Hilton properties I have encountered.

We upgraded to a business room which was well furnished and absolutely huge. In fact so huge it was actually rather difficult to watch TV from your bed !

Although all the facilities are good, things are ageing and money needs to be spent. Our TV was small, old and analogue. The aircon whined like a jet engine whilst actually producing absolutely nothing. I could not help but notice that the till in the Magic Lounge made a noise like an old fashioned cash register and so on.

However, the property is well placed on the outskirts of the city and is a big convention centre. It is surrounded by sports facilties and football is King here. If you are not fond of the sports fraternity then you may want to carefully check who is playing what and where before you come. Parking is outside, ample and free but does get tight when there is a fixture or a large convention.

We took dinner each night in the Magic Lounge which is a pleasant and reasonable value bar and steak restaurant. All staff friendly and multi-lingual.

There is no free wi-fi which is irritating. There is a Hilton / Swisscom deal at EUR 17 per 24 hours or I think, 7 days for EUR 68. Either way, Hilton really need to start living in the real world - across the road you have McDonalds and Burger King with free wi-fi and you will find the same in most local restaurants, bars and cafes.

Nevertheless, overall we had a positive experience and if you are looking for a touring or business hotel for the Nuremberg catchment this is a good and obvious choice
