“Always coming back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This is among my favorite returning hotel in Nuremberg! Depending on your budget, room can be moderately sized to quite large (up to 2 floors suite). Location is excellent, near the old town and subway is within a stone throw. Not too many restaurant very close but old town has lots. Breafakst served in a glass house is always satisfactory. Nice sauna in the basement. Staff is more than friendly and gives excellent service and... wifi is now FREE!

the room was small. no air condition. very small bathroom. formal kitchen but without any equipment and cooking s not allowed (you can only make tea or coffee). the street is very noisy. the only positive thing that it is not so far from the city center (10-15 miniutes walk)

Room Tip: try no to choose room with windows to the oberkanalstrasse

This is a very comfortable hotel just outside the centre of Nuremberg. It has excellent access to the subway (2 mins walk). The room is well equiped with a little kitchenette to make snacks and drinks if you are staying with a family. Balcony looks out onto a bar area but noise wasn't a problem even on a Saturday night.
Only one down side - no air conditioning on the hottest day (35 degrees!). We bought a small fan which helped at bight.

I stayed for one night at this hotel. In general a very good hotel, but due of the extreme hot weather and a room to the street side, it was impossible to sleep. The room had no AC and the temperature in the room was not acceptable. As a small gift the drinks in the fridge was for free (2 water and 2 beer)

On the other side the staff was very friendly, the room was good (had a small kitchen area) and everything was very clean.

I would choose the hotel again, but if it hot only with an AC or room away from the street.

I stayed at the Maximilian for several weeks in May-June 2013 as a part of a relocation process.

The room I stayed in was equipped with a kitchenette and was slightly larger in general, since I was staying there for a longer time.

Unfortunately the kitchenette is practically useless as it is so cramped, so basically the only usable thing is the fridge. The room has an early 90s semi-nautical vibe complete with full floor carpeting, which isn´t really working for me. If you end up with a room on the top floor, prepare for some sleepless nights because it´s going to be HOT in summer. And leaving the balcony door open will be more exciting than usual, since you can access other balconies (they´re all interconnected).

The hotel is situated near Gostenhof, southwest of the old town. Gostenhof is a nice, trendy neighbourhood with several nice bars and restaurants. It´s also just a 10 minute walk to the city center, so the location is great.

If you are down for a business trip this is a decent hotel, but the age is starting to show and for your own money you can most likely find a more interesting option.

Stayed 4 nights here in July 2013. We booked this hotel as it advertised "cooking facilities". These facilities in our room were a grand total of a fry pan, 2 plates, assorted cutlery and a salad bowl. We only ate basic breakie there but if you did want to cook proper meals then this place would not cut the mustard.

As noted there is no air con at all, the rooms are like ovens. They provide one pedestal fan that has a timer! I have never ever seen a basic fan with a timer.... It does mean that you get to wake up every two hours roasting and have the pleasure of putting the fan back on again....

Room itself (210) was of good size, tidy and comfy. The twin bed was just two singles pushed together as you often get in Europe.

Staff are super friendly and location is OK. I would stay in the old town if I ever go back to N berg. Costs circa 10 euro to get a taxi to the main train station. On the plus is that there are two supermarkets with basic but very cheap food almost over the road, Norma and a Lidel (Aldi like supermarkets). There is also a great Italian place on the street which serves massive Pizza and Pasta for next to nothing.

Room Tip: In summer do not get a room on any floor greater than the second, you wil die of heat stroke if you...

Met up with Australian friends here - accommodation was good, staff very pleasant. Lovely little biergarten. Very handy for getting into the city itself and for the train station. The rooms were spotless and it was very quiet. Handy for little supermarkets if self-catering. It would be great if they had air-conditioning in the rooms but there was a fan.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are very quiet
