“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is really good value for money, was really clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast nice & staff were friendly. It's close to the old town which was good for the Christmas markets. Would definitely recommend

within easy walk of main railway/underground station, and even closer to one end of the old city main shopping streets, hence giving good access to the Christmas Christkindle markets, rebuilt ancient churches, castle and museums. Infamous rally grounds and documentation centre via train.

Freshly refurbished. Nothing looked old or worn. No problems at reception. Lot of smoking directly outside of the doors. Didn't have breakfast, went to Der Beck bakery/cafe on main street instead.

Clean all white room, compact, reasonable bed comfort, good size. No comfy chair. Window desk with 2 sockets. Ugly view over dull modern roof and adjacent modern building. Very small but effective shower/toilet layout. Good tv with Sky+BBC news.

A little bit too much noise ingress from corridor, not a major problem really.

Would be very happy to go back to this hotel for a repeat visit to Nurnburg, perhaps go further afield using the excellent railways.

IBIS Nurmberg has a great location, 2 blocks from the historical area of Nuremberg. Restaurants and train station are at walking distance. My rooms was very comfortable & silent. Bath tube may be a little bit umconfortable for big's persons.

This was the 8th time I have stayed at this hotel, but the first following its recent refurbishment. It was certainly a bit brighter, but a little clinical - someone obviously good a very good price for a large quantity of white paint!

The seat provided in the room are uncomfortable - improvement is needed.

I missed the personal bar service.

Overall the hotel is all you expect from an Ibis: basic, has all you need for your business trip.

The hotel is either newly built or newly renovated, either way it is new. The rooms are nice, clean and tidy. Same goes for the bathroom.

Didn't like on thing though, everything in the room was in German i.e the do not disturb sign. I had to actually translate the text online to figure out which side to hang the sign on the door. Pretty strange for Ibis where everything is usually in local language plus French and English.

The tv had a huge number of international stations, so that's a new thing for me at ibis.

Has a slight problem with the reception staff, for some reason, most of then don't seem to be much excited about helping guests. Didn't like their attitude.

Breakfast is very nice and fulfilling, has a large selection of things to choose from. Do not compare to ibis hotels in france where breakfast is very limited.

WIFI in the rooms is free. But the free WIFI is limited... ie it blocks VOP etc... To get unrestricted internet you will have to pay.

Location is excellent; a minute walk from the city center and the train station.

For the smokers: the hotel is an all nonsmoking hotel!

Overall the hotel is great for business trips. I was attending a congress at the Messe, and had a rental. The hotel does offer underground parking. Driving to the Messe takes about 10-15 minutes. Not sure about the cab cost.

The Ibis Hauptbahnhof is one of two Ibis hotels within a stone's throw of each other and the Nurnberg rail station and old walled city. It's a typical, very basic Ibis that has recently been completely remodeled. It's just across the street from the old city and within easy walking distance of most Nurnberg attractions, although the Palace of Justice is over a mile away.

Rooms are very small and spartan, although the bed is comfortable and, unusually in Europe, an extra pillow is provided. The bathroom is tiny, and only one bath towel per person is provided - no washcloth or hand towel. The floors are laminated, so can be a bit chilly in the morning. There is a small wardrobe area and ample room for two large suitcases. Satellite TV has a couple of English channels. Americans used to an American-standard economy motel will be surprised by the very spartan nature of this hotel, but it's perfectly adequate and comfortable for a short stay.

The breakfast (extra charge) is extensive, but well presented and good. Wifi is free in the lobby, and there is a shared computer terminal that can be used, if available. Wifi in the rooms is charged at 3 euro per day, and parking in the underground ramp is 8 euro per day. The lobby is very fresh and contemporary.

The price is right for this hotel and it's adequate, if spartan, and well-located.
