“Great location, new and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Overall the hotel is all you expect from an Ibis: basic, has all you need for your business trip.

The hotel is either newly built or newly renovated, either way it is new. The rooms are nice, clean and tidy. Same goes for the bathroom.

Didn't like on thing though, everything in the room was in German i.e the do not disturb sign. I had to actually translate the text online to figure out which side to hang the sign on the door. Pretty strange for Ibis where everything is usually in local language plus French and English.

The tv had a huge number of international stations, so that's a new thing for me at ibis.

Has a slight problem with the reception staff, for some reason, most of then don't seem to be much excited about helping guests. Didn't like their attitude.

Breakfast is very nice and fulfilling, has a large selection of things to choose from. Do not compare to ibis hotels in france where breakfast is very limited.

WIFI in the rooms is free. But the free WIFI is limited... ie it blocks VOP etc... To get unrestricted internet you will have to pay.

Location is excellent; a minute walk from the city center and the train station.

For the smokers: the hotel is an all nonsmoking hotel!

Overall the hotel is great for business trips. I was attending a congress at the Messe, and had a rental. The hotel does offer underground parking. Driving to the Messe takes about 10-15 minutes. Not sure about the cab cost.

The Ibis Hauptbahnhof is one of two Ibis hotels within a stone's throw of each other and the Nurnberg rail station and old walled city. It's a typical, very basic Ibis that has recently been completely remodeled. It's just across the street from the old city and within easy walking distance of most Nurnberg attractions, although the Palace of Justice is over a mile away.

Rooms are very small and spartan, although the bed is comfortable and, unusually in Europe, an extra pillow is provided. The bathroom is tiny, and only one bath towel per person is provided - no washcloth or hand towel. The floors are laminated, so can be a bit chilly in the morning. There is a small wardrobe area and ample room for two large suitcases. Satellite TV has a couple of English channels. Americans used to an American-standard economy motel will be surprised by the very spartan nature of this hotel, but it's perfectly adequate and comfortable for a short stay.

The breakfast (extra charge) is extensive, but well presented and good. Wifi is free in the lobby, and there is a shared computer terminal that can be used, if available. Wifi in the rooms is charged at 3 euro per day, and parking in the underground ramp is 8 euro per day. The lobby is very fresh and contemporary.

The price is right for this hotel and it's adequate, if spartan, and well-located.

This hotel is conveniently located near the hauptbahnhof. It was possible to check in at 10.30 AM. Our room was adapted for wheelchair users and was very spacious for an IBIS hotel. The hotel is renovated a couple months ago so everything is new and modern. The room was very clean and the staff were helpfull and pleasant.

WIFI in the room was working well! We used the hotel for visiting the DB Bahn museum and Playmobil fun park in Zirndorf.

We have spent 2 nights in this hotel which has a very good location - just a few steps away from the central main railway station which has a direct connection to the airport. The accommodation is also just a few steps away from the historical city. The hotel itself is just renovated therefore everything is new, clean and comfortable.

The only problem we experienced is with the IT facilities: the WiFi is extremely expensive. 60 mins costs almost our monthly Internet subscription at home. There is one computer in the lobby which provides free use of internet but just for surfing. We tried to print our railway ticket and boarding pass but the computer did not supported any file formats. No doc, no pdf at all. There is a printer next to the computer but you can not print anything. If we had been in hurry we would have been a great trouble. The lady in the front office was very kind but could not help. Thus, we suggest to check in on your mobile and buy train ticket on the spot.

The hotel is located just outside the entrance of Nuremberg's railway-station. It's a solid three-star venue, staffed with competent and friendly people. I'd recommend it to everyone seeking a conveniently located lodging within the historical center of Nuremberg. There are lot's of restaurants withing walking range, an Irish Pub just outside the door, and the Nuremberg Castle is in easy walking range (i.e.: less than 20 minutes) too.
