“Practical location, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Just a couple of minutes form the main station, with access to local subway. In 8 minutes you're at the exhibition halls, and you're direct in the main city. Touristic place, so easy to find all you need to survive. Nice Irish pub at the neighbours. Breakfast is good, personnel friendly, WLAN worked properly, but relative slow. The room was decent, shower powerfull, bathroom a bit smelly. All together a very good stay.

Dear FlyingDutchmann
Many thanks for your rating. A lot of our guests appreciate the good location of the Hotel Victoria. Except of this we try to give our best to help our guests to have a perfect stay. Sometimes the W-Lan in some of our rooms is a bit slow, because we are located in a historical building with strong walls. Normaly it helps to restart the router on the floor. Next time our staff could help you. We hope to welcome you again. Best regards.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

We stayed 4 days at Hotel Victoria at the beginning of May and we found it perfect in all respects. Positives:
- walking distance from the station - take the escalators to the lower/tunnel level and follow signs for Alstadt (past the wig shop!) and the tunnel emerges just outside the hotel entrance.
- great location just inside the old city walls and all attractions are within walking distance
- THE MOST friendly and courteous staff who seem genuinely happy at their job and are willing to go to any lengths to make the guests happy.
- a sumptuous and tasty breakfast with a wide variety of items (the breads were especially delicious)
- plenty of options near the hotel for dining, eis/gelato and libations
- we found the room convenient for our needs, except for the bed (2 single beds joined to form a double - leaving a chasm in the middle - but we found this to be the case in all the German and Austrian hotels we visited on this trip). Our room was located at the rear (overlooking the Handwerkerhof) and noise was not a problem. Internet worked well.

CONS: None.

In addition to being a great city, Nuremberg is also a good base to explore northern Bavarian towns (Wurzburg, Bamberg, Rotenberg, Regensberg). Hotel Victoria and, especially the staff, gave us yet more incentive to plan a return trip to their beautiful city.

Dear stpaultraveler7
Thank you very much for rating the Hotel Victoria. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay, our beautiful city and of course the hotel. Every day we try to make our guests smiling. To be proud of being a private hotel we set a high value in an individual service. There are so many more things to explore in Nuremberg and the surrounding that we would be happy if you plan your next trip with a stay in the Hotel Victoria.

Such a lovely hotel! Wonderful, helpful and warm staff, lovely rooms (other than the 2-twins-together for a queen bed that is European standard, and beds are a little soft), and excellent breakfast spread. The location is great, just outside the railway station, so it's easy to get almost anywhere. The craft "village" is just outside the front door, and there are plenty of excellent eating a shopping choices within a short walk. Enjoyed the stay thoroughly!

We spent in this hotel one night. The hotel is in the center in the entrance. It has perfect position. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. Garage of the hotel is two blocks from the hotel. The room was small, but nice. You can choose pillow what you want. In the bathroom is written if you forget something, everything have in the reception. The minibar is full. Also the breakfast was perfect with very nice staff and large selection. Everything was fresh. There were 4 types of water ( with lemon, mint, grapes, orange ), variety of bread, fresh fruit salad, fresh vegetables, cheeses ( also french ) etc. Very nice hotel for great value.

Room Tip: 346 view of the museum, bathroom with bathtub

We spent 2 nights over Easter Weekend and found this property superb value for money. We took a Comfort room, facing the main street and right next to the Old Tower and handicraft center.

The staff was outstanding, always looking to assist you being comfortable and well informed. It was the best starting point for exploring the Old Wall City, allowing to take a quick break back at the hotel in between walks, shopping and eateries

We normally stay at Meridien or Sheraton properties, with bigger size rooms but really both of these hotels in Nuremberg have nothing as close to character and friendliness compared to Victoria Hotel

Buffet breakfast is really really good; you can also have freshly brewed coffee or tea during the day in the lobby small bar

Highly recommend the property and will visit again ourselves

Room Tip: If you need total peace and quiet, then choose a room facing back towards the Museum; if you want to...

I would have given 5 for room but I did miss have no tea or coffee facilities however they provide in the lobby a cozy setting where they offer fine freshments including herbal tea. The service is excellent and staff friendly and very accommodating. Definitely staying at Hotel Victoria again

We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and that you would come back to the Hotel Victoria. For the reason, that we have no coffee and tea in our rooms we offer this in our lobby area for free. We are glad that you like this and maybe we see you again one day!

Have just spent 3 nights at the Hotel Victoria on a city break, and whilst perhaps it doesn't quite wow in the first half an hour, its charm and friendliness grows on you the longer you stay. Yes, it's on a key pedestrian route from the station, and yes there are two basement bars adjacent, which could create noise at night, but we asked for a quieter room prior to arrival, and having been allocated a room at the 'back' (or front as it appears in the hotel photos, as commented on elsewhere), slept really well throughout. Our room looked across to the museum of modern art via a crane for the current refurbishment of the top floor, but to be honest, we really were barely aware of the work, and the operation even provided some light entertainment at times. There was no scaffolding in front of our window, but I can understand that this might detract ih other rooms, so do as we did, and check! Our room was compact, but warm, spotless and had everything we needed during our stay; we don't expect a kettle in continental hotels, but the staff at the Victoria are so obliging that I'm sure had we requested one, they would have helped. In fact, we found the staff to be one of the two biggest assets of the Victoria...nothing was too much trouble, they always had a smile and time to offer suggestions, and the informal restaurant they recommended was spot on, as was the BarStube with its own brewery just up the road; their enthusiasm for Easter was charming, too, and added to our enjoyment (especially the cute chocolate eggs!). The other real asset is the buffet breakfast, which is fresh, appealing and incredibly varied; we didn't have a problem finding a table, and the staff were really on the ball when it came to service, requests for fried eggs and table clearing.
The Victoria is run by a youthful, energetic team who put a lot of effort into making their hotel a little different: it's a very cheerful place, and the positive vibes are surprisingly infectious.Given that it is slap in the middle of a working city, it has a great deal to recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Museum of Modern Art are light and quieter; there was some scaffolding in fron...

Dear hopefultraveller21
Thank you very much for writing a comment about the hotel Victoria and to recommend it to other guests. We are happy that you recognized, that we always try to be a litte different and individual to help our guests to have a perfect stay. For example we always try to offer our guests a quieter room in the back of the hotel. At the moment we are renovating our attic floor because we always want to be a "modern historical" hotel in the middle of the city center . For this reason there is a crane located in the back of the hotel. In order to avoid any inconvenience for our guests, we closed our hotel during the main work. Maybe you stay in Nuremberg once again - we would be happy to welcome you another time.
Kind regards
