“A big disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

One would expect DB with its wonderful rail system to have an equally wonderful railway museum. It doesn't. This place may have been adequate when it was originally built but nowadays it really is a poor relation of its British , French and Japanese equivalents in York, Mulhouse and Kyoto.
The major exhibits are displayed in a very cramped way. Surely there must be some roomy redundant railway buildings somewhere in Germany which could be used to display the locos properly. Come on DB - do better !

“Not the best image for DB”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

I was rather disappointed by this museum. Although it is the official museum of the official German carrier it seemed very low key. I had visited the French equivalent in Mulhouse a few days before and that was far superior. There seemed a lack of "spark" about the whole place, with the few engines on display crammed into too little space. There wasn't the excellent multimedia I'd seen at the Dutch equivalent in Utrecht either. The second hall was rather well hidden, and easy to miss if you didn't speak German. It did have some exhibits outside, but again these were oddly arranged such that you weren't sure what was meant to be on display. The best example of this was the old signal box, which overlooked the main line, as it wasn't clear if this was part of the museum or not.

“Good - but not brilliant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

Regular readers will notice that transport museums are a bit of a thing with me! I was quite impressed by the general layout charting the development of the railways in Germany and they have a small but interesting collection of full sized rolling stock including a royal coach of King Ludwig. The big disappointment, compared with so many other museums in Nuremberg is the lack of any information in English which is a pity.

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

A good day out for our family, the musemum thinks nicely of kids. Even without kids there is enough to see, specially if you are train buff. Service was nice and friendly. The cafe was nothing special, but get the job done.

“Get the English audio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

The museum was more extensive than expected and the exhibits are described in German - naturally. I should have gotten the English guide.
