“Fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

I enjoyed the sausage sampler, the potato soup, and the apple beignets. It was a very friendly environment with friendly staff and guests having a good time. If I were to return to Munich, I'd definitely return to this place.

“Traditional and not a tourist trap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Traditional Bavarian food and drink. Not a tourist trap like the Hofbräuhaus. Loads of locals, especially at lunch time. Service was refreshingly friendly. Local Bavarian food was very very good. Try the white sausages, but remember, the locals peal them out of the skin/casing.

“The real deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This is a regular for me when I go to Munich. What I like about it is that it's nowhere near as touristy as the Hofbrauhaus. The sad thing about the Hofbrauhaus is that it's treated more like a tourist attraction.

Anyway, on this visit we had a meal and beer in the underground area which is cavernous and made of red brick. I've eaten upstairs and in the beer garden before but never down here.

I had what I think was called the 'butcher's platter'. It consisted of sausage and lots of meat. I also had sauerkraut which goes so well with their meat dishes. This was all washed down by a litre of beer.

My brother was dressed as Bruno the gay Austrian and was told by the staff to calm himself a bit as he was annoying other customers. The staff were probably in the right. At the end of the meal they let us have an aperitif which was nice.

So if you are not interested in a Disneyland beer hall, just go here. It's full of local people and much more authentic than others.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

How different this place was from the Hofbrauhaus....Mega polite staff,Very well priced beer,And stunning food,Which again was very well priced,We went a couple of weeks ago and it was very cold,So we did not sample the beer garden,Which was a shame,Would return for sure,Much much friendlier than the Hofbrauhaus!!!

“Excellent beer hall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

My first visit to a beer hall, was a little confused as you just get seated next to others at a table, found out that this was the typical way in beer halls.
Waiter was helpfull, no english menu so had to try and decipher, food was excellent from the starter to the main, we also went for a large shared sweet which was superb.
Would definitely recommend to others.
