We were staying at a hotel near this restaurant. It’s in a neighborhood off the beaten path for tourists so we figured it would be authentic. It was Saturday night and we did not have reservations. We were greeted quickly and after a few minutes we were told that the wait would be between two and three hours. I guess he could see the disappointment on our faces and he offered to seat us at the bar and we could have dinner there. We did and it was a fantastic German meal in a fun and lively environment. Truly German as only they know how to do it. I had the pork medallions with dumplings and my wife had wiener-schnitzel and roasted potatoes. She had chocolate dumplings for dessert. It was all prompt, delicious and plentiful. The bar staff was extremely busy but they did not forget about us and they made us feel welcome. The final check was reasonable. We paid 48 Euros for two beers for me, coffee for her, both dinners and a dessert. This is our second visit to Munich (we love the city) and now we have a new favorite restaurant.
Of course, if you offend a German (or any other country) they will quickly forget that they speak English. We did not have any language problems when greeted, from the bar staff or the local around us at the bar.
