Based on Trip Advisor reviews, decided to take the family (four of us) on a special dinner (instead of the beerhalls and pizza we had been doing) and check out Geisel's. The reviews were just what we were looking for - good, simple food, tasty, in a real restaurant.
We must have hit a blip, but our experience was terrible. We arrived on time, and really looking forward to the meal. We were told the table was not quite ready, but we were sat in the hotel lobby and a drink order was taken - a very nice way of having us wait, rather than having us standing around. The problem is 30 minutes later we are on the second round of bread sticks, and still no table. Despite being right on time for our reservation, we had to wait over 35 minutes for a WEDNESDAY reservation (and were the only party that had to wait - others who arrived after us were seated immediately I learned after we were finally seated. Apparently a table had been assigned to us but that table did not vacate while others did, hence we had to wait. If that really is the system, that makes no sense whatsoever).
No apology, nobody came out to say what the problem was, I had to go in ask when we would be seated and was told it would be only five more minutes (it was 10), but nothing was offered in compensation. VERY disappointing.
On top of that, dinner still took over 2 hours. Everything was just SLOW.
The food was good (yes it was very good, however the desserts were extra special), the wine was good as well with an excellent recommendation from our waiter, but if we had been 35 minutes late for our reservation we would not have been seated and having long gaps where servers disappeared for extended time was not appropriate for the expense of this dinner.
Despite the great reviews, there are so many other great restaurants to enjoy. This was our one really nice dinner out on this trip and it was very disappointing.

Thank you for your detailed feedback and information. Knowing this, we will do our utmost to improve to the even better. With great pleasure we read that you do rate our food selection very high as well as our wine recommendation. The more we regret that this impression has been affected by your negative experience. As you and your family, there are also a lot of tourists using the summer months to visit Munich. Our restaurant Vinothek is very popular and therefore good booked throughout the year. Both together can truly mean that the restaurant is busy during the week. We can well understand how frustrating the long waiting time for your pre reserved table must have been for you and your family, and we would like to apologize for this. Please forgive the inattentiveness of our staff and be ensured that this is normally not the case. We are sorry that this has happened to you this time especially as this evening was planned as a special occasion for you and your family. We will discuss your comment with the team and make sure that all employees are aware about these points. We would be more than glad to get a future chance and convince you and your family especially of our friendly and courteous staff. Please feel free to contact me directly for a future reservation (+49 89 55137 8128; email@example.com), so I may personally look after your booking. With best regards Julia Sprung and the team of Geisel´s Vinothek
