We stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a luxurious, relaxing stay in a wonderful city.
We do not usually write reviews but, given how wonderful our stay was, we thought we would.
I had a read a review before staying here that had said the breakfast was disappointing but, having had breakfast in the restaurant for 5 days, I could not disagree more.
The selection at breakfast was plentiful and varied and was all delicious. We tried the pancakes, waffles as well as other freshly made dishes. Varieties of coffee are available on request.
We made full use of the large breakfast and only had to eat lunch once in the 5 days!
The spa is wonderful and free to use for guests. We made use of the sauna, steam room and pool and the relaxation room is wonderful.
This was prefect for us because the shops and bars were closed on Christmas eve so it gave us the opportunity to relax in both the spa and in the spacious rooms with the huge beds and the wonderfully soft pillows. Our room overlooked the park and we had a juliette balcony.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was perfect. I can highly recommend the steak with chips and the chocolate cake was just wonderful, as was the cheese and everything else we had the pleasure of eating.
Finally, the staff in this hotel are fantastic. All of the staff we spoke to spoke fluent English, which was perfect for us given our limited German.
Checking in and out were easy. At check in we were presented with a hot towel, which was unexpected but was a lovely touch that made you feel that you were in a very lovely place immediately.
The location is only a few minutes walk from the shops and about 10 to Marienplatz if you want to see the carillion at the Rathaus. Everything in the centre is within walking distance and, if you want to do a sightseeing tour, the starting point is just across the road from the hotel. It is 20 euros for 3 tours all day or 25 euros for a 2 day ticket. Good value if you want to visit the castle or Olympic park, which we did.
We cannot really rate this hotel any higher. It was a perfect stay for a wonderful Christmas in a wonderful city and we would definitely stay here again.
Room Tip: I can't imagine any of the rooms here are bad. But our room had a juliette balcony that overlook...
