“Nice hotel, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We opted for a very basic room on the first floor.
Pros: It was large, very clean, good beds, good pillows, good TV, small kitchenette with a fridge (which we were not expecting) and loads of storage. The location is great for tourists who want easy access to the subway. Two excellent restaurants and a nice neighborhood pub within 1 block, also a bank with 24 hour ATMs and a nearby pharmacy. The hotel provides a computer for guests with free internet in the lobby and free wi-fi in the lobby for those who don't opt for that package in their room. The front desk staff was very helpful and generous with excellent coffee in the lobby each morning. They also gave us good restaurant recommendations.
Cons: It is basic, but for the price, we would stay there again and happily. The only real complaint we had was our room smelled of smoke (which was quickly and efficiently remedied by the staff). Although the room was very clean, the cleaning staff was hit or miss with replacing used glasses (as in they didn't and left dirty ones in our sink each day), however washing a couple of glasses didn't bother us. They also did not replace the one "luxury" item - complimentary bottled water. The two small bottles we got at check-in were it for a three day stay. We kept forgetting to mention it to the front desk but I am sure if we had they would have handled the oversight. The breakfast the hotel advertises is not included and is a whopping12 euros per person, an extravagant amount given the budget-friendly theme of the hotel. We just picked up a couple of pastries to go with the coffee.
In short- nice hotel, great price and all the cons can be overlooked in light of the value.

Room Tip: If you want AC, upgraded TV, and breakfast, better specify when reserving.

I stayed here during exhibition in Nov 2012. The hotel was clean, reasonably priced (even during large exhibition), had a good breakfast and is located in walking distance from the main railway station. The only two minuses: my room on the first floor was very hot and there's no AC and the WiFi was not free. WiFi costs less than 30 euros / 5 days, so it wasn't too expensive though.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Booked in May 2012, with high demand & high prices for hotels in Munich during the Electronica exhibition in November. Wanted low-cost hotel near to public transport - most already booked or expensive. GHotel fitted criteria - booked 2 nights at £87pn. Journey time airport to the hotel, with 1 subway change, approx 1h. Pleasantly surprised to find the nearest subway station entrance just a few hundred metres away and on the U2 line with trains going directly to the international exhibition centre. The hotel's location is in a quiet street, conveniently close to the city centre.

My bedroom had two single beds and was very quiet. It seemed to be a different shape to the other bedrooms, being long and narrow and had facilities for disabled use in the bathroom. Also provided was a kitchenette with hot plates and fridge. A flat screen TV had access to major European channels, including the BBC World Service. A good selection of hot and cold food was on offer in the breakfast room, for an extra charge of €12 each day. Close by is the river and just across the road, the Church of St Maximilian, with its wonderful sounding bells - well worth a visit. Staff were very helpful - overall, a very pleasant stay.

Disadvantage: Extra charges for wired or wifi internet access. Like many other travellers, I look for free wifi access, so had to succumb to Starbucks in order to spend some time on-line (O2 roaming access is good but limited to 25MB per day for £1.99).

Room Tip: You may prefer to request a more square-shaped room, without disabled facilities, if you like a lowe...

I booked this hotel on the basis of it being near the Museums, and it was a rather lower category than I usually select. Despite requesting a quiet room when I booked several weeks in advance, we were allocated a room which looked out onto a major road rather than the side street I had been expecting and also weren't happy about the damp smell which lingered in the bathroom. As the hotel was full there was no chance to move rooms.
I cannot tell you if the bed was comfortable as we only stayed long enough to use the wi-fi to find another, more up-market, hotel and left. We felt it was worth forfeiting the advance room payment to have a better experience of Munich.

Room Tip: Stress you want a room on a side street away from the front entrance if you want a quiet room.

Unfortunately, we are not always able to fulfill special room requests. The hotel is very centrally located, thats for the good! Also you have free Sky (pay tv) in the room on a LCD screen. The rest of the rooms is completly rundown and the walls/doors/windows are not sound proof, so it gets really noisy. Tiny bathroom again a bit out of fashion. For whom it matters the room offer a small kitchen, but no dishes. I didn't need it, but curious how this should work.

We stayed here during the height of Octoberfest. Compared to other hotels in the downtown area, it was very reasonably priced. We walked to all the sites and the Octoberfest Grounds. There is indoor parking underneath the hotel, which made in convenient to drive into the center of the city.

Spent three nights here over the last week.
Only about fifteen minutes walk from marienplatz. However it's not a straightforward walk so if you don't know Munich be sure to take a free street map.
The staff were cheerful and baggage stowage was available while waiting for the plane.
The rooms were a fair size and clean. The fridge was a definite bonus too.
As other people have said the one real drawback is the church (huge!) at the end of the road. If you want your windows open at night then be prepared for hammering bells through the window.
We'd happily return, but I can see why the location could cause a few navigational issues for first time visitors to the city.
