The Hotel Munich Inn is a mixed bag. The location is a plus: it is conveniently located near the Hofbahnhof and maybe a 15-minute walk to the Marien Platz. Granted, you do have to walk by a few strip joints and casinos but there are lots of normal, sober people around so it seemed safe to us. It is an ethnic neighborhood (which apparently makes some reviewers uncomfortable), providing the added bonus of all night kebab shops and grocery stores opened on the weekend and holidays.
The rooms are snug but modern and comfortable enough. However, I do not think our room was cleaned while we were there and the clean towels were simply thrown atop a suitcase by the door.. And, I would not recommend walking around with bare feet, as debris from the neglected floor tends to accumulate. Based on these observations and the dead bugs in the window sill, I would venture to guess housekeeping is lax.. Like other reviewers, we had a hole in the sheets too.. Both of our rooms were very warm and stuffy; opening the window proved quite noisy. Despite our nonsmoking room, we could always smell cigarette smoke coming from somewhere in the building.
The physical layout of the hotel is cumbersome and the stairwells were untidy as it seems they also function as a storage area for the room linens, boxes and food for the cafe next door.
The breakfast was pretty good and opened early at 6:30am, which was nice. However, the staff was a bit short. Similarly, the front desk staff were not well-briefed on issues such as how much a local phone call placed from the room would cost..
Like other reviewers, we were disappointed with our stay overall.. It was in a decent location but perhaps something nicer could be found nearby for the same price.
