“Great value for money at a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

Stayed at Flemings in August 2011, the stay was quite good, the personal are very friendly and the rooms are very tidy (although small), great alternative when on business in Munich

My husband and I stayed three nights at Flemings (Fri, Sat & Sun). The front desk was most helpful and their English was usually excellent. We appreciated the apples in the room. The soft lighting built into the headboard was a welcomed accent as opposed to a harsh light if you needed a little light during the night to get up. The sink/shower area is rather small, but manageable for the few days we were there, but may be an issue for a longer stay. I don't know if all the rooms are exactly the same. It appeared they have other rooms to offer. The all glass shower was not an issue for us from a privacy standpoint. The breakfasts were fantastic - something for everyone. Conveniently located to U-Bahn stations, grocery and restaurants. Recommend Al Pacino's if you are looking for Italian food (just down the street). We were on the fifth (top) floor and it was very quiet.

There's a few moans on here on the location of this good value for money Munich hotel, that it's not central. Simply put, if you looked at a map before booking, you'd know that. It's 4 U-bahn stops (around 10 minutes) from Marienplatz, or a nice 20-25 minute stroll, and 5 minutes from the Munchner Freiheit transport interchange, which is also home to a nice selection of bars and restaurants - especially if you want to avoid the stag and hen parties of the city centre on a night out.

The hotel is apparently 4-star, I wouldn't say it comes up to that, but then I didn't pay 4-star prices so I'm not moaning about being deceived. The standard single room I had was a decent size and clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was great too.

The one let down I had was the 'neighbours', who on one occassion at 0340 were having a very merry (and loud) conversation that could be clearly heard through the locked connecting door.

I stayed here 3 nights while on a business trip to Munich and although I had been here before in 2007, I was surprised to see how little the hotel has been updated. The rooms are still the same in terms of amenities and are still on the small size. While the free mini-bar is a nice touch, the TV was massive and chunky in size and everytime I went past it to come into or leave the room, I keep bashing myself against it.

There is free Wifi but you need a code (from reception) and the speed of the connection varies according to what time of the day it is. There is a fitness area in the basement (small) but there are also showers, a sauna and a steamroom which I did enjoy. Be warned however that there is no changing area as such - so be sure to take your dressing gown down with you, otherwise you will have to put your gym clothes back on as you need to walk or take the lift up back to the room - via the reception area.

The breakfast area is nice although I did find the buffet somewhat lacking in imagination. Staff however are lovely and were very helpful with any questions or demands that I had.

As for the bathroom, well it didn't bother me that much. The shower is practically to the side of the bed as it the basin. There is however a sliding frosted glass door to the toilet, affording you some privacy if you are sharing the room. Had I been there with my partner, I wouldn't have minded showering in front of him, after all, we have seen each other naked enough, so personally I don't get all these prudish remarks on here saying "it's not right".

All in all, the hotel served a good purpose but whether I would choose it again for business - I don't know. Rates were reasonable, it's close to public transport (tram 23 to Münchner Freiheit stops right outside, or walk 2 mins down Potsdamer Str. to Ungererstr. and there is the U-Bahn (U6) at Dietlindenstr. which will take you down to Marienplatz in less than 10 minutes) but there are better-class business hotels in Munich.

Room Tip: Ask for a inner courtyard room - much quieter

Staff were great, breakfast buffet great, buy didnt feel like 4 star at all .
The shower cubicle is in the room with clear glass Walls and the sink.. Only the toilet is through a frosted glass door.
Look funky and fun , that's why I booked here .. But it's awful.. You need solid Walls in a bathroom.. I could use the toilet.. I had to go down to the spa in basement.. I coulnt go with my girlfriend seeing my silloette

Location:Not central, but 5 minutes walk (or one tram stop) from Münchner Freiheit, which is a transport hub surrounded by restaurants and bars. Easy access to airport.
Hotel:Modern building with attractive ground floor, with reception, bar/café (fine) and restaurant (didn't try). Also central beer garden/courtyard, where in better weather you could have the excellent buffet breakfast. Coffee and tea indifferent.
Rooms: Less good, but fine. We had a Superior, which was fine without being lavish. New and attractive bathroom isn't as good as it looks. We were at the end of a corridor facing in to the courtyard, and noise certainly wasn't a problem. No tea or coffee in room, but a fridge full of beer. Excellent.
Would I stay here again? I'd probably look around, but if I could get a reasonable price,
I'd be happy to.

this was my second stay and I was not looking forward to it. But I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised and would stay here again. The difference was the room. The standard room with the shower in the middle of the bedroom is disppointing at best. For a few euros more, the upgrade is well worth it. Full size, comfortable bed, flat screen tv, sitting room with desk, sizeable shrank, and best of all, a real bathroom with soaking tub/shower, twin sinks, free minibar. the breakfast is decent with enough of a selection to please most people. even the service of the desk staff was friendly this time. for the price, it was a good value. but don't get the standard room.

Room Tip: for 20 euros more get the upgraded room
