“Perfect location, clean, and very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Very close to the train station. Rooms are very comfortable and clean.
We stayed from 24th November till 1st December, and we enjoyed a lot this hotel eventhough we did not spent too much time at the hotel.
Great prices. Good breakfast for 5.9 euro.
I would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor were very nice :)

10 minute walk from the main station. Right opposite a large beer hall. perfect for me.

Had a double room en suite. No complaints about it, got cleaned daily. Did find the bed not uncomfartable but didnt always get a good night sleep. May be because they were 2 singles pushed together so had a small gap inbetween them.

Found the room was fairly priced would stay again if ever in munich.

Couple extras about hotel. Had kitchen to cook in if you like. Free wifi or access to pc if you dont have wifi device. Pool table games room etc. Attached bar with happy hour. Are a few of the good points i noticed. didnt spend too much time in the hotel.

I stayed for two nights before going elsewhere. It's position is very close to Hauptbahnhof but the opposite direction from Marienplatz so a bit of a hike to get there. The rooms are adequate and reasonable value but there is only one small, temperamental lift servicing six floors and lots of fire doors to negociate along the corridors. The doors all have signs requesting quietness after 10pm but these are either ignored or the walls are so thin that the slightest sound can be heard.
Good breakfast for 5 euro if you can find a place to sit and a reasonable time frame in which to have it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a bar downstairs if you don't fancy going out and lots of cheap restaurants in Westend. Overall I'd say it was more suitable for young people than a lady of mature years but it never felt unsafe.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your honest feedback. Its very important for us to get these things about your stay. We are very glad that you had positive experiences and felt comfortable during your stay.

I understand your dissatisfaction about the quietness. To improve the quietness on the floors during the nights we try to check more often that the quietness after 10pm won´t be ignored by other guests.

Hope to welcome you again.
Kind regards Alex

We stayed during Oktoberfest, a very busy time in this city. We had two rooms of 3, the rooms are clean and tidy and include shower gel and towels everyday and soap. The rooms were great prices compared to most hotels. The best thing about the Meininger is the location, only 5 minutes walk to the Oktoberfest site, well connected by tram and the one of the best beer halls is just located opposite the site. Staff are very friendly and speak English. The down sides in my opinion are the breakfast option at 5 euros was ok, but could do with some hot options, and also noise was a issue but could be forgiven as due to time of year. would stay again

Room Tip: ask for a room that does not face main road, but rather faces courtyard, and higher lever as the hot...

I was there for a whole weekend with my friends. We paid for 5 beds room. It was big, quiet, clean, perfect for us. Since the very beginning we found the staff very friendly and helpful, no problems with language, all they spoke english easily. We got the room only for us, nevertheless the room has very large personal lockers in the bunk beds. Toilet and showers separated, which is really helpful. everything very clean, bathroom, sheets, pillows, windows, etc etc.
If you can rest you won't have problems for that, but if you want to meet some other travelers the lobby would be a nice place where to start. The hostel is quite big, with a very nice lobby and living room, it is possible to by cold drinks in the reception, free maps availables, they sell post card and they have also a mail box. In the first floor is the kitchen, they have the option to pay for the breakfast (we didn't). Very nice wifi signal in our room. In terms of location, is a little bit far from the city center, but don't worry, public transportation in Munich is wonderful and the tram, train, subway is just rigt in the corner. Wonderful right?

I would say it is a little bit expensive for students like me, but once you pay it worth for the good accommodation they offer.

In general, this is a good hostel, nice people there. Highly recommended, very worth!

I stayed one night in a double room for single use. The price was reasonable. The room, breakfast hall and front desk were clean.
The receptionist - PIA was helpful and efficient. I requested for a change in room as I was not able to open the door, she acted speedily.
The room is spacious with a flat screen TV and sofa. The TV programme include BBC news. So not all channels are in German, this is good for foreigner. I like the toilet, it is newly renovated and clean. Hair dryer is provided. It is very important for female travellers of course.
The location is 3 trams stop away from the main train station. If you like to walk, it will be at least 15 mins. So, more encouraging to take the tram which the interval is about 5 mins. Though it's near to main train station, the neighbourhood appear to be a bit complicated as compared to my previous stay in Swabbing area. But overall still a safe area.
There is elevator in the hotel, good for traveller with a few pieces of luggages. Breakfast is basic and good. It costs 5 euro Which is worth it.
Overall, my experience with this hostel/hotel is pretty good except for the neighbor I mentioned.

I was in Munich for just one night. The staff were extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. (in English!) The lobby has free wi-fi and a pool table. The other guests were very friendly and willing to talk, so it was cool to meet other internationals travelling by themselves.
I booked a bed in a dorm room, but when I got there I was put in a room with only 4 beds and a bathroom in the room, SCORE! I thought the price I paid was fair for a dorm room, but great for this semi-private room.
Breakfast isn't free, but it's easy to find cheap food/ pretzels for breakfast at the Hauptbahnhof. Which, is like a 10-15 minute walk away, so the hostel is close to the city center, but far enough away that I didn't experience any outside noise while I was trying to sleep.
Overall, I was very impressed with Meininger, and I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends.
