“Great location and comfortable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We spent two nights in a twin room which was rear facing in preparation for a visit with 50 boys in December. I was delighted with the service and the standard of accommodation. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. There are lockers for the safekeeping of valuable items in shared rooms and in the lobby. We used the left luggage room on two days. Staff on the desk were helpful and knowledgeable. We had a very informative meeting with Markus, front of house manager to help us plan for the Winter trip. The transport system in Munich is highly efficient and there is a tram stop in front of the hostel and Hackerbrucke station with a LIdl on site is a five minute walk. We got there in less than 40 mins from the airport by Strassenbahn. The tram outside took us to Karlsplatz in less than 20 minutes. We bought tickets for city transport from the front desk. Quality coffee is served and the bar is very pleasant. Breakfast was also a positive experience with a variety of cereals, muesli, fruit salad, cheese, cold cuts and bread and rolls on offer. This is an ideal base from which to explore the charms of this wonderful city. A refurb programme is currently underway to update the property, so future visitors should benefit further.

Room Tip: Rear rooms would be quieter.

Despite this being a Hotel/Hostel it is a great choice for the budget traveler. I stayed here with 2 friends in a door style room that slept 6 so we had a huge amount of space and only paid for a 4 person room. The bathroom facilities in room were nothing flash but better than some hotels with supposed 4* ratings.
Location.... Well I think having "City Centre" in the name is a bit of a stretch as it is about a 20 minute walk to the city centre but it is only a 10 minute walk to the central train station. This place would also be really good if you were staying for Octoberfest as its about a 12 minute walk to where the fest is held. There is a tram that goes right past the front door. There is also a fantastic beer hall across the road.
Great free WIFI in the foyer and lounge area and not a bad price for a pass to have WIFI working in your room.
Breakfast is good but make sure you don't go just before the end of the sitting time and the breakfast room can get crowded.
No Airconditioning in rooms.

Room Tip: Get a rear facing room so you do not hear the trams going past. Although they are not loud but I can...

The hostel offers great value for money and is clean and comfortable. The reception staff were all very helpfull and gave tips and advice for your stay in munich. although the hostel is not central munich the centre is each to reach via tram or train or could be comfortably walked.

One of the best hostel's I've ever stayed in. Have been three times now, and the hostel is always clean, comfortable, and the staff are friendly.

Great location with the S-Bahn only 5 minutes walk away, a tram stop virtually at the door, one of the best beer halls in the city is right across the road.

Only a stop away from the Central station as well, and right on the train line to the airport too.

Great atmosphere during Oktoberfest as well.

Well working and clean hostel. When I stayed here in middle of June there were many groups of students on some class trips and the whole place was fully booked.

The breakfast was ok, if you exclude the pretty bad coffee. It worked also well and although it was crowded everybody got what they wanted. There was nothing special though and only cooked thing were the eggs.

Not a huge experience but well worth the money.

Hostel is nice, good common room. Breakfast is a bit not worth it. Rooms are clean. Only problem is no air conditioning. Beer garden across the street is amazing. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm and it was good because on the first night only 8 people were in it and the second night there was only me and my boyfriend which worked out well.

I stayed here for one night with three friends in June. It is a budget hotel so no one should be looking for a luxury stay when they go here. It's a bargain and for that price I would rate it "very good" considering it's very clean, comfortable and the service was great. However, it was about 90 degrees the day we stayed and the room never cooled off even with the window open. We were extremely hot all night and it was loud with the road close to us. BUT that being said, if it were not summer I think it would be a great place to stay. Also, it's not really within walking distance to the city center.

Room Tip: Choose rooms away from the road.
