Our tour guide, Keith W. was outstanding in his knowledge of the history of Dachau and his ability to provide detailed answers and explanations to all questions. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Keith as a tour guide.

“Great Experience ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

James has an amazing wealth of knowledge and helps you understand what happened there.

Meet at the train station at 9:30 am. Helps to call him so he expects you. James will take you by train and a short bus ride to Dachau where he walks you through history and teaches you about everything without being biased. It is simply to educate. Great job James!

“Worth doing”

Our guide - Ian was very knowledgable & provided excellent accounts of history.
Bought shivers to my spine but it worth a visit to see the hardship faced by many.

“Very informative tour with a great guide”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We went on the Dachau Tour with James in early September.
There were only 3 of us on the tour (my husband and I and 1 other gentleman). This made the tour very interactive and interesting. Full credit to James for being open to answering all our questions patiently and pointing out all pertinent facts about the camp.

The travel by train is very easy and comfortable, as is the short bus ride to the site.

My only issue was that I would have loved to have at least 30mins more at the site to have been able to see the barracks, crematorium and the place where prisoners were held in solitary confinement for longer than the allotted 5-7mins, and hear the recordings and see the photographs in more detail than just a quick look.

James was also very helpful in providing suggestions for places to visit for lunch after the tour.

All in, I would recommend this tour, with James, to people wishing to visit Dachau, since it feels better to visit such a site in a small group with a knowledgeable guide, than simply by oneself or as part of large touristy group.

“Informative and insightful tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

We found out about this tour through Mike's Bike Tours and were accompanied by James as our tour guide.

The Dachau tour meeting point is at the main rail station, and involves a train ride, followed by a short bus journey to the memorial site. I'd advise dressing for the weather and wearing suitable footwear.

After introducing us to some of the facts, figures and general history of the Third Reich, James reminded us to remember the survivors. It is after all, as much through their stories that we can start to grasp any idea of the horrendous crimes against humanity committed during this time. Dachau was to become the blueprint of all other Nazi concentration camps.

It was a moving and sombre day, but we are pleased that we made the visit and thanks to James are now able to appreciate some of the happenings at Dachau, even if we will never comprehend them.
