“does what it says on the tin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

we took a twin room - clean, not terribly expensive, did the job and felt more like a 3-star hotel than a hostel. Not too noisy (given location and bar below). Very conveneient for train station and only short walk to centre of town

Bit of a wait to check-in, reminded you it was a hostel not a hotel

I have never felt more unwelcome in my life when Hostels are concerned. I had booked a dorm room through Hostels.com only to hear at check-in that I was too old (38) for a dorm room and that the only opportunity left was a private room for more than 50 euros per night. The ladies at the reception were really nice about it though (they felt embarrassed as well;) but that didn't make up for the bitter taste it gave me.

Hostel on other points is okay. Not very atmospheric and -typical- the people behind the bar mostly don't speak German but worse, they have no idea about Baverian/German cocktails/drinks. The cocktail menu has no local stuff.

I would try a hostel in another part of town (Marien Platz) since the area of Hauptbahnhof (central station) is quite ugly.

Have been in many hostels in my life, and this one definitely has better times ahead of it, but for now--skip it!

Jaeger's was a good place to stay in Munich. If you are the type of traveller that is out all day and night and need a place that is clean to sleep and shower and safe to store your luggage, then Jaegers will do just fine. The rooms were very clean with wifi (log in every 45 minutes) and lockers (bring your own lock if you don't want to pay for one). The beds were clean and comfortable with new sheets every day. The shower was clean but I had to hold the dial down to keep the water on.
Location is convenient- 5minute walk from Hauptbahnhoff and right next to Euro Youth Hostel which has a good bar. Also a good Pizza place on the corner with slices for about 2€30. Free walking tours are available from the hotel lobby at 10 am. Free shot when you arrive.

Stayed two nights in this hostel for Oktoberfest, in two separate rooms. The first room was AWFUL. No ventilation, beds were so uncomfortable and squeaky and the shower was an energy saver that needed to be pushed every 10 seconds for water. The second room wasn't as bad as the first, but again there was no ventilation and with 10 people it was like sleeping in a sauna. Bathroom was much better so no complaints there. In general, the staff was helpful and lockers were available on site as well as in the room. However, the downstairs smelled so awful, not really sure why. Would not stay here again or recommend, as there are much better hostels in Munich.

Round corner from the station, amazing atmos, beds are extremely comfy, no kitchen butood bar which does food, wifi throughout for free. Staff are friendly, lots of tours etc are organised. Not bad price for what you get. Clean thoughout but showers are a little dirty. 7/10

I stayed two nights at Jaegers - its literally a two minute walk from the station and transport, and no more than a 10 minute walk to Marienplatz where the shopping and eating and drinking is all happening.

There were two of us in a twin share room with its own bathroom - once you get through the reception area which naturally is full of younger people doing there thing, then the rooms and surroundings are extremely quiet.

The staff on reception were really friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend this place for location and good clean facilities to stay.

The Jaeger Hostel is located a 2 minutes walk from Munich hbf and pretty much in the centre of the city, so location wise, this place really earns the 5/5.

During our trip around Europe, this was one of the more crowded rooms with not really enough room to get ready in the morning with the other people staying. We stayed in an 8 people room, which was fully occupied.

The hostel is clean, the staff were friendly enough, if a little unenthusiastic, but willing to give us travel advice and help using the printers and computers. The main negative was the quite ridiculous necessity to pay deposits for everything. I know this is a regularity for hostels, but the prices just didn't seem proportionate, even though the cost of the hostel wasn't exactly cheap, either.

It has a nice bar area, although it was pretty dead whilst we were there, even though it was a weekend.

Pretty standard hostel that's in a good location and will give you a good nights sleep. 4/5
