We recently traveled to Germany on our honeymoon and this was our last stop. We were given an upgrade and were offered a free drink in the bar. This is in a excellent location and all of the staff are very well trained and very polite. The rooms were very clean and warm.
Thanks Sofitel

On a recent visit to Munich we – a couple – stayed at Sofitel Bayerpost recommended to us by friends and business acquaintances alike. The hotel is located side by side with Munich’s central railway station which puts it within easy walking distance from train to hotel. However, we arrived by car. The hotel has its own roundabout at the front with either valet parking or direct drive into the underground parking. Both an absolute necessity as there is no parking on the street at all.
Rooms:
We were well received at the reception desk and had a seamless check-in. As we arrived early on Friday due to a lunch appointment it was a pleasant surprise to find our rooms ready at 11.30 am.
Ours was a Luxury Room on the 7th floor looking onto a green courtyard and over the rooftops on Munich’s skyline. The interior design is stylish in dark wood, pale stone and touches of colour adding a fresh note. There is enough storage space for suitcases, a good sized closet, extra drawers and a wardrobe. Useful are the large mirrors and good lightening is there throughout the room. Nice features are the bedside lamps with its shades that could be turned into reading lights when slightly twisted and the leather bench on the window sill to relax with a view. The bed is very comfortable and gave us a good nights sleep. The bathroom follows an open plan and integrates into the bedroom. It comes with a rainshower that has enough pressure and a small bench to sit on. To the delight of my wife the hotel provides Hermès toiletries. There is even an extra bathtub. An added benefit is the flatscreen mounted on a sliding board so you can view it from the tub or from your bed. The room has all necessary technical devices from IPod docking station, Bose sound system, WiFi to Nespresso machine. The latter refilled during the day.
Spa:
Bayerpost has a wonderful Spa and wellness temple with a grotto-like pool. Don’t miss it! There is a lift directly to the spa from every floor. So you need not to mingle with arriving and leaving guests while walking around in your bathrobe. Very thoughtful. The spa is all dark wood, stone, leather and candles with a Zen atmosphere. Different saunas (nude only as it is common in Germany) and treatment rooms are there to use. A relax room lures you with comfortable divan beds and a bar with newspapers and magazines. But we really enjoyed the grotto-like pool. One half is mostly rectangular to swim some laps and has a big waterfall shower and underwater jet for massage both on the push of a button. Daylight is filtered in through the tinted glass roof. The other half is a huge spiral like grotto to swim into dimly lit with underwater lights. This is fun and stress relief.
Service and staff:
Breakfast on Saturday is served until 12 am and Sunday until 1 pm. You could enjoy the spa and finish with a late breakfast before leaving on a late checkout at 2 pm like we did. The tasty buffet offers a huge variety for any taste and is constantly replenished until they close. Cause it is a French hotel they serve Perrier water as well. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Same goes for the reception desk, helpful and friendly. For example, the concierge heard us asking the receptionist for a street. He assisted immediately anticipated what we where looking for and how to get there.
Summary Pros and Cons:
We stayed only one night and the experience lived up to our expectations. It is good value for money especially if you stay on a corporate rate. Friendly service and attentive staff at any time. For us the spa alone in combination with the late breakfast on weekends would be worth a leisurely visit again. Our room had anything we needed. We could even sleep with an open window, despite being in such a central location it was quiet on the 7th floor. The open bathroom concept is not for everybody. You could hear noise from bath- and restroom especially at night. The central location has its advantages, however, the neigbourhood is what it is around a mainstation in a major city. But we never felt uneasy walking at midnight from Marienplatz back to the Bayerpost.

Room Tip: Try the 7th and 8th floor facing the green courtyard. Very quiet, wonderful view over Munich rooftop...

Dear guests,

hank you very much for taking the time to give us such a detailed feedback on your stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. Surely, our location next to the central station has as well advantages as disadvantages. On the latter we are working together with the city of Munich. However, it is a pleasure to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and especially the Spa. I therefore gladly shared your comment with our SoSPA-team.

To make our guests' stay a most comfortable one we payed highest attention on the layout and design of our rooms as the guest rooms are naturally the most central places for a hotel experience. Also, the whole team strive to make your stay a special one. Thank you very much for appreciating our efforts.

I hope to welcome you again soon.

Best regards

Very nice hotel. Well appointed rooms with reliable wifi connectivity. Excellent ambience of entry foyer. Good restaurant. Very convenient location right next to the main train station. The staff are courteous and even sent me a birthday card which happened to fall during my stay.
On the negative side, meals are overpriced. Bathroom doors have no closing mechanism, which may be an European trend, but this hotel caters to international clientele.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, as any rooms including the one I was in only offer a view of the hotels...

Only 2 nights, but the overall evaluation was very good: friendly staff, nice room and excellent breakfast. Also, having a drink at the bar with friends was fine. Never understood why the 2nd night was 50 Eur more expensive than the first? However, I will remember this for the next time I travel to Munich.

Stayed here last weekend as a business/leisure trip. Excellent location right beside the main train station. Staff we encountered were all friendly and efficient and accommodated early check-in. The decor is really cool and I loved the high ceilings and spacious atmosphere. Rooms were really well appointed, though I would have preferred them a little brighter and also could have done with some more plug points and a better table for business/work reasons. The fixtures and fittings were well appointed and the bed was super comfortable. The Nespresso machine was also a real attraction. We didn't do breakfast but the bar at night was quite cool and there was an excellent range of cocktails. A little on the expensive side but well worth it. The only downside for me was not getting to the Spa..hope to check that out on my next visit!
