Stayed at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost in January, with a family. We had two Junior Suites, as we found a special deal on the Internet. These are two levels with a view of the station, but quiet. With a massive two storey window, the station looked beautiful when we awoke to find it had snowed overnight -magical. Great location next to the station (we didn't find it a rough area, and were comfortable to let the older children wander by themselves). Trams outside take you to the old town, and most things you can easily walk to. Excellent tips from the concierge on where to eat. We were there when the sales were on, and there were some very good buys.
Went to the BMW museum and BMW world which was a 20 euro cab ride. Well worth seeing even for those not that interested in cars.
Would love to go back to Munich, and the Sofitel. Excellent service throughout our stay.

Stayed one night as it was conveniently close to the station welcome was first class the room was spacious bathroom was plenty big enough good toiletries breakfast was good but I recommend you bring swim wear with you as the spa and Turkish bath area is worth a visit be carful through its mixed area and a lot of nudity over service was great didn't try the room service although I believed it wasn't 24. Hours just until the early hours
Would stay again if in area hopefully longer next time

My intention was just to get one night near the train station in Munich as I took a train in and planned on leaving for the airport in the morning. My stay was very short. So I was not expecting much. However I was pleasantly surprised at the Sofitel Bayerpost and it's stylish stay it offered me.
First the hotel has an excellent location right at the train station. If you are using the train anywhere this is the number one choice for you. It is just a few feet from the main door of the station.
The lobby is soft and dramatically light, from a design stand point it's very spectacular. The colors and lighting are impressive.
On check in the staff was friendly and courteous. I felt like a welcomed guest.
My room was large and well appointed. I had a comfortable bed and my bathroom was a large size with a huge walk in shower. It was dark which gave the room a nice cozy feeling.
My one complaint may have been that there were not outside windows. I looked into the inside atrium area and it was hard to see the windows outside to check the weather. However this is a small complaint against everything that is done so well at this great hotel.
There is a spa, bar and restaurant that unfortunately I did not get to try out as my stay was so short here! Hopefully I will be back!

I recently stayed at the Sofitel in Munich for a weekend and felt that the hotel was definitely one of the best city hotels I have ever stayed at.

Positives
- great spa and pool area. Small but Intimate and with a real luxury feel about it. Sauna and Turkish bath areas great although be aware that since this is in Germany most people go nude and these are mixed sex facilities
- room - fresh, modern and seemed include some nice touches eg iPod/iPhone music dock, good toiletries, even included an adaptor in the room so no need to worry about having forgotten your travel adaptor
- food - breakfast was great and also Sophie's bistro served a great and tender steak (fairly sure it wasn't horse meat either :-) ). Breakfast had a vast selection: from Nutella pancakes to tropical fruit and all the usuals
- area - very close to main sites and right next to the central station which takes you to the airport
- staff - amongst the friendliest in the whole city.

Negatives (barely any and really clutching at straws here)
- probably needs a more ample room service menu past 1am as we wanted to order a dessert though the selection was dramatically different past 1am
- view from the room was not that great (it was of another old hotel with a large neon sign) though suspect none of the other rival hotels have an improved view

Overall thoroughly recommend this hotel and definitely bring your swim gear to make the most of the spa
