“7 day stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

We spent 7 days and were not disappointed. Driving up very plain but once you enter this place is beautiful. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Josef from the restaurant came and showed me right away the beautiful eating area. We stayed in room 18 which is not a room with a balcony but had a short hallway that opened up to the living room area with a couch and chair and a table with 4 chairs, a kitchen area with an island and stools to sit.

The kitchen had a microwave, refrigerator with a freezer to make ice, stove top and coffee maker, which they fill every morning with coffee and creamer. Cooked only once there for breakfast but we only had 1 frying pan but we ate out most of the time.

We had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Everything was very clean and beds were comfy.

We ate breakfast there once. Good selection and they will make you eggs if you like.

Had dinner there once and the chef made us a dinner which was off the menu. Gave us a small appetizer. Potatoe soup was to die for, a huge salad so fresh and good and spaghetti with pancetta, it was very good and the atmosphere is so nice.

The breakfast room is a 4 season room and there is sitting out side. They light torches at night. The garden is so peaceful, you don't know that you are smack dab in the city.

Go out the front door to the left to the corner are 2 places for baked goods. You are so close to Hofbraus, Marianplatz and the Viktualmarkt, closed on Sunday. Great to eat and buy fruit and vegetables. Great hot dogs. Go to Dallmayer even if you just look around.

Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room. The garden is beautiful. Have dinner there 1 night.

I'm a traveler who likes to stay in 4-5 star hotels. This is new for me but decided to give it a try. The hotel front is small and not very visible. Don't be deceived by that. The staff is polite and takes care of your needs but I won't say they are warm or super friendly. I asked for a quiet room on a higher floor and was taken through a lovely courtyard to a charming, lovely building but a walk up! No worries, a guy was sent to take my suitcase up. The room was a studio with a kitchenette small but so well organized that you don't feel it. It has great storage area, dining area, relaxation section and a super comfy bed. I got some of my best sleep there. The tv has many chanels in various languages. The bathroom is lovely, functional and very clean. My only gripe is that my pillow are got stained with my mascara and was never changed. And the tea service wasn't always refilled. And the washing machines offered for use, are very complex to use and I advise you not to bother. Oh, and I forgot the lovely balcony where you can sit and enjoy the quiet garden. Blissfull. If you are used to fancy hotels with bell boy running for your bags, I still encourage you to try this. It's wonderful. And Germany is known for its cleanliness which the hotel demonstrates well.

Room Tip: Quiet room on 1st floor will do. Ask for elevator if you have a lot of luggage.

Dear agnes9971,
Thank you very much for sharing your positive feedback with other travelers on Tripadvisor. It was our great pleasure to have you staying with us this past July.
We greatly appreciate your comment about the comfort of our rooms, which all have been renovated in the beginning of the year! Tea and coffee should be replaced with each service, so do stained linen. We apologize that for some reason this was not the case during your stay.
It is our great pleasure to read that you enjoyed every aspect of your stay with us and we sincerely hope to welcome you back whenever your travels bring you to Munich.
With kindest regards

Last year we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, which is just round the corner from here, and much more expensive. This year we chose this place because it is really an aparthotel, and we wanted some independence. We chose the Rose Garden Suite, which was lovely, quiet- and had two bathrooms- perfect for a longer stay. The location is perfect for a city stay- really central, walk to all the main attractions, and the kitchen facilities make it really easy to settle in. Having a very nice quality restaurant available on site for the evenings we didn't want to cook was a bonus. Friends who live in Munich and visited were amazed at the location, quality, and garden.Great.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back onto the garden are really quiet

We enjoyed our stay very much, mostly because of the location. We didn't get breakfast with our room, but each morning, my husband walked over to the Viktualmarkt and bought fresh bread and fruit. It was great to have a kitchen, We had a large suite and it was clean and very quiet, with lots of closet space. The only negative is that the people who work in the office leave and lock up in the early evening. We were never given instructions what to do if we had an emergency after they left. It was only after we checked out that we realized how risky it is to stay in a hotel like this. What would we have done if we couldn't get into our room for some reason or the toilet stopped working or something else that needed immediate attention?

We recently stayed at the Maximilian for four nights and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to others. Our room was ready for an early check in and was on the third floor overlooking a lovely garden. We sat on our balcony each morning with a cup of coffee and again at the end of each day. We were surprised at how quiet the hotel was given its central location. The room was spotless and equipped with a small kitchenette which was quite convenient. Perfect location and a gem of a hotel - we hope to return.

My stay here was for two months. The first week i was in a room facing the Garage park across the street. It was noisy and i did not sleep well. After moving to the garden side, my sleep was excellent. I also had a balcony, which was nice for having dinner with my friend when she visited. The staff are so very helpful and friendly. They really treat you well and recall your name after the first couple days at the breakfast. The hotel is maybe 54 rooms, so it is really quaint and peaceful. It is located in a really central place to see the important sites. i would recommend this to anyone traveling and staying for a day or months. The kitchenettes with micro wave and stove top are great for cooking a meal for yourself or others. Hello to the staff at the front office, as i will remember you and the breakfast staff for some time to come. Thank you all so very much!

Room Tip: For sure, get one with a garden view and a balcony!

The Maximilian is perfecty located to get around the heart of Munich. It has a small garden (more akin to an oasis) where everything is tranquil and refined. We were a short walk to Marienplatz, the S and U Bahns and many many restaurants. Our studio room was an excellent size, clean and modern, high class fitments and a new large bathroom. and included a kitchenette, settee, table and chairs, a bar with 2 chairs and a balcony with another table/chair set.
Overall very nice, you will not be disappointed
