“A small but marvelous little church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Having seen many churches I would chose this one as the most opulently decorated one. Built by wealthy brothers as a private family church, it is now open for the public. Definitely worth a visit

“Amazing interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Worth a look inside for its over the top decoration! Also next to Asam House, which you can't go in, but has an interesting façade.

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Almost walked by this church because missed the signage for it. But wow. The decor of the place is definitely something different from your regular churches, but I think because it was built to be only a private chapel it truly is lavishing. Great place to see.

“Not my favorite baroque church, but a fine example of the type”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

The Asam brothers were fully in charge of constructing and decorating this church, whose atypical darkness is due to its status as a penitential church. Although my preference is for the lightness and airiness of, say, the Wieskirche south of Munich, or the pilgrimage church at Vierzehnheiligen in the north, the Asamkirche is a splendid jewel that rewards a visit.

“Must See While in Munich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

It is a small church but there is a lot see inside. Because it is small the crowd inside appeared larger than it was but don't let that deter you. Make sure that you set aside at least 15 to 30 minutes for this place.
