“Excellent all round”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2007

This hotel is perfect for a short break right in the middle of Munich. Situated 50m from the Tal exit of Marienplatz which has excellent S-Bahn connections to the airport. Very clean throughout, staff very friendly, excellent breakfast and room very comfortable and quiet (we were at the back). Near to all main attractions, bars and restaurants (excellent Indian - turn right from hotel exit then first right and its 20m away). Would recommend this place highly.

Myself, husband and 2 teenage daughters stayed in the Schlicker this July. Location absolutely fantastic. Right beside U-bahn and S-Bahn on Marienplatz. The staff couldn't be nicer. We stayed 2 nights then travelled around Germany and came back for another 3 nights. They stored our luggage for us for the days we were absent and had them delivered to our rooms on return.

The only slight problem I had was the noise at the front of the Hotel, there is a beer hall opposite so can be a bit noisy. However my teenagers didn't mind so myself and husband changed to rooms at back of Hotel. The rooms at back are a bit more expensive but worth the peace and quiet. The breakfast room was nice stayed open till about 10.30, and their was varied buffet. (continental style). Would definitely go back to this hotel.

Perfect location, 1/2 block from center of city (Rathaus) and the market. Very friendly staff, all spoke English. Breakfast was very good with wide selection of food. Room was not large but well kept. No A/C but we didn't need it.

There's generally three things I rate a hotel on: quietness of room, location and breakfast. On this basis, this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in: with a central location in the pedestrianized heart of Munich near the Rathaus, there is no traffic noise; the walls seem sturdy enough but the breakfast...Fantastic. Don't think we had any lunch at all when we stayed there!

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the hotel in October.
The location was right there in Marienplatz which is really crowded with tourists and shoppers. It was nice being close to everything and also close to the Subway stops.

Room was bigger than expected and was comfortable.

Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was included each morning and it had a good selection of items.

Our only recommendation is maybe to reserve a room that isn't facing the Tal Street. It was kind of noisy with all the street noise and people til about 1am. It wasn't as bad on Sunday night.

Just a note, most shops are closed on Sunday so find something else in Munich to do on that day.

After three days in Munich at the Sheraton Arrabella, we needed a better location and a lower price (and Internet access that worked). I visited several hotels and selected this one. I recommend it almost whole-heartedly.

The hotel has the perfect location: almost in the Marienplatz, a couple blocks from the Hofbrauhaus and the Hard Rock, five minute walk to the tram, two minutes to the U-bahn or S-bahn. Breakfast each morning was very well done with a slightly overworked but very enthusiastic staff. Rooms are nothing special but perfectly adequate and clean. Radio did not work was perhaps worst drawback. Internet access is via T-mobile hotspot and while speed was highly variable, access worked consistently for the eight days we were there.

No air conditioning, but decent window ventilation (and we were there in October).

Biggest negative is that the street side is noisy and you are very close to tower bells that go off each morning and continue at intervals all day and until about 9 pm. I wouldn't let this deter you from staying here. My wife and I agree this place is a great value.

If you don't yet know the Marienplatz area, I assure you the combination of the victualmarket, restaurants, transportation, shopping and more make it ideal for those who like being in the middle of things (and if you don't like that, why go to a large city?).

Hotel location is excellent. During World Cup we were in the middle of everything. We spent two nights there and walked the entire time.
Hotel did not have A/C, and it was brutal -- not much sleep!
Accommodations were average.
