“Good location, enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

This hotel is in a great location (very close to the train station and historic district, in walking distance to most sites of interest). The staff were all helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and the breakfast buffet very nice - and all at a good rate.

The area is typical of train stations but felt safe. In any case, the hotel is at the beginning of the block (near a main thoroughfare and the train station) and the areas of historical, cultural and commercial interest are close by. We were very pleased with our stay.

The first thing to know about this hotel is that it is NOT part of a chain. It is unique and has its own charm. As others have pointed out, it is centrally located near the Munich HB (central station), a post office, and a Rewe supermarket. There are also lots of ethnic restaurants in the area, and a few "gentlemen's clubs." For the price I paid this was an excellent deal, especially since it included a great breakfast which included eggs made to order (omelet, scrambled, or fried). I was told that wifi was only available on the ground floor and that wired internet was available in the rooms. However, much to my surprise, I was able to get wifi from room 207.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. They do request that you leave the key if you leave the hotel. Like many European hotels, the room is small but was nice enough and had a good desk for working on.

If you decide to stay at this hotel here are some useful tips:
The room doors use old style metal keys. I was in room 207 and to enter the room there was an outer door and then several inches in, there was an inner door. To lock/unlock the door requires turning the key TWO FULL TIMES. It is a little confusing at first because when you turn it once you do hear the bolt move, but it is not fully in or out until you turn the key a SECOND time.

There is an excellent Pakistani/Indian restaurant, Lahori Hajweri across the street. You have to take one flight of stairs down into the basement to reach the restaurant, but it is well worth it as the food was very good and very authentic!

It is easy to buy food at the near-by Rewe supermarket and you can keep your own drinks cold in the small mini-fridge in the room.

The room has a custom looking combination closet, bureau, TV cubby. The TV does swivel out to face the bed. If the TV does not turn on when you hit the power button, try pressing #1 on the remote. That is what worked for me. Alas they do not have very much in terms of English television.

Once you are in the room you must use your metal key to lock the door. LEAVE your key in the lock. That way you won't misplace it and in case of emergency you will not be fumbling with the key to get it back into the lock so you can unlock and open the door. This was one aspect that struck me as odd as it is possible to lock someone into the room since there is no way to unlock the door from inside the room if you do not have the key!

Hotel very clean, breakfast lovely, staff very nice. Can get a bit noisy outside at night, however it is in the centre of town. If this Ida problem ask for a room to the rear or hotel.. Would recommend to anyone having a weekend break.

Room Tip: A room at the back of hotel would be quieter

The hotel is located in the city center and well connected by the underground metro as well as buses and trams. the hotel is quite small but the staff is very helpful. The rooms are small and look dated. Moreover the hotel is located right opposite a stripbar so some families with small children may not be comfortable with that.

This is a basic hotel. Rooms were small, and TV channels lacked variety. There wasn't a kettle in the room, but you could request hot water, although it came in a flask that tainted the water strongly of coffee. Unforuntately, noise also travelled from within the hotel to our room.

On the other hand, the room was clean. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows lacked plumpf. There was plenty of space to store your stuff in the room and the hotel doesn''t mind looking after your stuff after you've checked out. There was an electric heater under the sink in the bathroom which had to be used to warm up the room. It heated up the room very quickly, however. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was great - lots of different breads to choose from, although no toasters. I guess they would have only been necessary to warm the bread as it was so fresh and crusty. There were also meats, cheeses, fruits, cereal and yogurts, and a variety of drinks. The best thing about the hotel was the price for the location. About 10m from the hotel is a set of stairs to the transport system. There is also a money changer across the road and lots of places to grab a bite nearby. Would stay there again.

Nice and clean hotel a few hundred yards from Hauptbahnhof Station and a perfect location for exploring Munich. Very friendly receptionist with a warm welcome. Rooms were ready even though it was only late morning. Room was clean and tidy, not ultra modern but ideal for what we needed. Bathroom functional as expected with good walk in shower. Very nice breakfast, all the usual 'help yourself' varieties available but also able to order a freshly made omelette from the waitress. To summarise - great value, great location, friendly staff, clean and tidy. Highly recommended.
