“Convenient and quiet location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

The Am Nockherberg Hotel is a small hotel located in a residential section of Munich. It is very close to a subway stop which makes access to other parts of Munich very easy. (Munich has a very good public transportation system!) The hotel provides a very nice breakfast buffet. The front desk staff are very professional and helpful. We liked the location of the hotel - very quiet area for a good night's sleep. The room was good sized, very clean and comfortable. I found the price reasonable and don't have the need to have internet access (afterall this is vacation). We recommend this hotel.

Let's start with the positive:
1. Walking distance from city center (20 min)
2. Nice person at the reception.
3. Good breakfast.
4. Large safe that can accommodate a 14 inch laptop.
The drawbacks:
1. Much overpriced.
2. Very expensive internet in the rooms. You have free internet in the lobby, but it’s small and you have no privacy.
3. Difficult to find the hotel, even with GPS.
4. No parking at all in the area (parking for residents only). Hotel parking cost 11 Euro per night. Parking is very difficult and you cannot park yourself. You have to ask the hotel people to part it for you.
5. No air-condition at all. In the hot ways of summer the room gets so hot that you cannot sleep.
6. The only window has a view to the neighbors. The problem is that in the summer you must keep it opened to have some air, and the neighbors can also see into your room. You must make a choice: either air or privacy.
7. Crowder breakfast hall. Some people have to eat in the corridor, outside. Even if you are lucky and have a table inside, it is too crowded and unpleasant.
8. It’s a minimalistic room with very basic equipment. Much less that you expect for such an expensive room. Plastic cups. No minibar or refrigerator. Too small TV (you cannot watch a movie from your bed). You get one regular key, no card, no electronic key. If you lose it you pay 250 Euro. That the hotel law.
9. Very difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower.

We've just stayed for 3 nights to be near my son and family. Very short walk to metro and then easy to get anywhere or 30min walk to main Square. We had comfort twin on the 4th floor at the back- comfortable beds, lovely pillows, efficient shower and clean bathroom. Very quiet, except for briefly some very large vehicles leaving garages beyond the back of the hotel about 7am- possibly part of large Paulanger brewery nearby.

Lobby and breakfast room decor well appointed and modern. The continental breakfast buffet was excellent, as good as any you would find anywhere. Great variety of cold meats, cold fish, cheeses, boiled eggs, pastries, breads, conserves, fruit, etc.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I would recommend for any short stay such as ours.

Nice room, excellent view from my room on the fifth floor. Very nice decoration and very clean. Nice varied Breakfast, with great Müsli with yoghurt, Fruit, brad, eggs, lax.
Isar is close, calm and quiet in a very nice neighborhood.
One point down for the price, and the fact that you have to pay for WLAN. But there is also a computer in the reception that you can use for free.

Very cozy, clean and calm - I had a perfect stay for a reasonable price. Hotel is not too far from the hip Glockenbachviertel (15 Minutes by foot) or the central station (4 stops on subway). The only negative point is that the WiFi isn't included. However, I would recommend it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

We stayed for 4 nights whilst visiting our son who lives close by. My only real complaint with the hotel was that, other than at breakfast, it did not seem to be possible to get a cup of tea/coffee during the day, which would have been very welcome at the end of a day's sightseeing. That said, the room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast very good. Service was not spectacular, but the staff were pleasant enough and were happy to speak English which I was grateful for.
At just 2 mins from the nearest U-Bahn (Kolumbusplatz) getting around was easy. The location is mostly residential and therefore quiet although there are a few restaurants close by (we tried Il Falco and Wirtshaus zum Alten Kreuz both of which I recommend).
Overall, pretty good value and would stay here again.
