“Good value for a City Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Bottom-line: Functional hotel with a good location in terms of transportation, but also near the seedy side of Munich.

Pros - Great price. Good location in terms of being near the train station and the ability to easily get to places. The breakfast, a mixture between European and American, was great.

Cons - The room was not very clean. I thought it had separate rooms, but really just a big room with an alcove that had one of the extra beds. Though the location was good for transportation access, it also has the typical seedy side of the areas near a train station such as the Red Light District, bars and plenty of questionable characters. The staff was very helpful, but I arrived very late and unfortunately the man on the desk late at night did not know exactly where the parking garage was located. This resulted in a very late night of searching, parking in the wrong garage and paying extra. The morning front desk attendant pulled out a map that showed me exactly where the parking garage was located, so I was able to move to the correct garage.

It is located in the center of town but does not exceed in design, neither cleaning or staff. Some staff really friendly and helpful, some not really. Good breakfast food and lounge. Would recommend for fast business trips, not for family or city breaks.

Room Tip: In some rooms wireless internet does not work very good, I stayed in room no. 203 and for internet I...

Like other reviewers I initially also went to the wrong hotel. This is a basic hotel but is clean & warm & I found all of the staff that I met to be very friendly.
I had the breakfast & it was fresh & tasty & represented good value for money.
The location is central & handy for the Hauptbanhof but very seedy & not to be recommended for families.
Overall a clean functional hotel.

First of all we went to the wrong hotel, there must be two with the same name on parallel streets or with similar names, not sure, but we eventually got there despite the street to get to the correct one being blocked off by the police....it was a bit of a challenge! Anyway as others have said the old guy at the check in was a pleasant and amusing chap, after walking into the temporary reception (due to all the building work) you do feel like you have gone back in time with the very old fashioned reception desk and the old guy. The hotel is run down but the room was very clean, no luxury, quite basic but the bed linen was nice and the bed was comfy (although ŵouldnt know any different as we had a mad alcohol fuelled night in munich! ) don't think I would stay there again but it was cheap so you get what you pay for.

My only dislike about this hotel was its location, really rather seedy. That said, after just a block you can cross to the lovely part of Munich via the underground shopping and railway, which was always busy and bright and safe. I think it is just a bit far to the centre for young children to walk repeatedly.
The rooms were fine, bathrooms nice (no bath) and we did not find it noisy despite one of our two rooms (303) facing the main road. As others have said, the theatre itself is still undergoing renovation so there is scaffolding about, but not an issue.
The wifi could be patchy, but was free. I agree with some others who have commented on the charming older man who was occasionally on reception - a hoot!
The breakfast was excellent and very cheap.
Overall I would suggest that for families with children this is not the best option, but for adults (particularly if on a budget, it is really cheap) who are going to spend most of their time sightseeing, it would be good.

Room Tip: 301 double room facing the courtyard, spacious enough and very quiet.

I haven't stayed here for a little while but I doubt much has changed they seem pretty set in there ways which was fine for us. Good rooms slept perfectly, location is ok fairly close to the haptbahnhof. Old guy at the check in was amusing. Really enjoyed the breakfast every morning very tasty start to a cold winters day. I'd stay here again.

Good value, but do not expect very good service or kindness of staff. They are bad indormed about own city.
Excelent room, very clen, very confortable and amazing localization, if you consider how close to the best places you are. I recommend.
