“Dodgy dealings?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Distinctly average meal with slow service. It took 40 mins from asking till bill arrived.
When bill came bottle of wine had been omitted. Waiter asked us to pay for wine by cash. We refused and bill was amended and paid for by card.
Management might want to take note in case this was an attempt to bypass normal accounting procedures

Very convenient and just a short walk from the main station. Rooms are clean and comfortable and in my experience quiet. Small bar area which is pleasant enough and several restaurants nearby if you wish. Good value city centre hotel.
Not a high service establishment but what they do is good. Front desk efficient.

Just returned home from a 4 night break away in Munich and stayed at this hotel. Excellent location to be near centre of town and main train station. Staff very helpful, restaurant service and food excellent and room very clean. The only negatives were that someone was smoking in their room and could smell it from our room.

Room Tip: We had standard room and it was all we needed and very clean, was at front of hotel but quiet

This hotel is conveniently located about 10/15 minutes by foot from Munchen's main train station and two minutes away from a U-bahn stop. It is easy to get anywhere from this hotel due to Munchen's excellent public transportation system and by foot. It is, however, on the edge of a large immigrant neighborhood which is a few streets south of some dodgy-looking streets immediately south of the main train station. The neighborhood definitely feels safe, although I avoided the dodgy-looking streets, and I took advantage of the fact that there are cheaper chain stores such as Aldi and Lidl in the area. With respect to the hotel itself, there was nothing special about it -- it seems like the TRYP chain took over an older hotel at some point, with the radiators and wooden floors still in place, but the rooms were perfectly fine and the beds quite comfortable. The breakfast buffet was decent, but nothing special and the restaurant staff overwhelmed (which led me to wonder what the hotel was like during Octoberfest). Generally, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The only annoyances were 1) what felt to me were constant nudges to upgrade from a standard to superior room (from signs on the door and comments from the staff), 2) free wifi that did not work too well, forcing me to choose the pay option for better wifi (another upgrade nudge -- if you say you have free wifi, it should be workable; otherwise, mention up front that guests need to pay for wifi), 3) a somewhat dangerous-feeling shower floor and 4) the elevator and other renovations taking place at the hotel (I think the hotel should make clear to potential guests about renovations prior to people booking rooms, so they know what to expect).

The Hotel Tryp in Munich is literally a seven minute walk from the entrance to the greatest amusement park in the world - Munich's annual Octoberfest. The staff was beleagured with drunks from all over the world, but still found the time to be kind, considerate and helpful to everyone at the hotel. We are going back in a couple years and this is where we'll stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed nice.

Perfect location in the city centre, just a 10 minute walk from the main station. Bed was so comfortable. Very quiet and staff were very helpful. Only stayed for 2 nights and hardly spent anytime in the Hotel. But would happily go back and visit again.
