“Worst experience ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Worst of everything! Very expensive during Octoberfest and they take advantage of their location to the subway for it - paid over $600 for 2 nights for a Holiday Inn in a poor section of town. They charge for ever little thing! parking and wi-fi are extra. If you wamt to extend your first order for wi-fi - you have to go to reception to extend it - even in the middle of the night. Had to ask for 2 towels for my husband and I. Noisy, poor wi-fi connectivity. The staff doesn't care either. Housekeeping starts knocking on your door at 8am to clean your room - and then every 30 minutes. Only good thing was the breakfast. Stay away!

This hotel is a disaster. It is very old, my room had 1 plug in it, it was not properly cleaned, the radio is from the 1970s, the wifi is very expensive and VERY slow, there is no coffee making facility in the room and the reception staff is rude and not very helpful.

Traveling as a family of 5, we had 2 rooms. The biggest challenge was booking, as US holiday inn and website were not that helpful. For example, one room had a mini fridge, the other just had a space in the fridge spot, as it was not a convenience room. We had no idea we had booked 2 different rooms categories of rooms The staff was super helpful, the hotel was clean although a bit dated. Sometimes when I used the bathroom fan in my nin-smoking room, there would come in a smell of cigarette smoke. The all you can eat breakfast buffet is vast in its offerings, although expensive. If you are having a late breakfast that will function as lunch, it's a great idea. The walk to the subway at Arabella park is about ten minutes with school-age kids, but is through a lovely suburb. The walk may not be the best choice in bad weather or alone at night for women, however. I had read reviews with concerns about room security, but this was not an issue for us, with key-card entry typical of any hotel.

This hotel was close to where I had to go so, out of loyalty, I booked it. And tired and hungry I arrived.

it was OK

Now, one of the unique selling points for IHG hotels is that theyprovide tea and coffee making facilities. But this hotel had none. I phoned reception and was told, in no uncertain manner, that the hotel did not provide such faclitites. Needless to say these were subsequently provided.

But if, like me, this is your prime reason for choosing an hotel/hotel group please note that you may have a challenge here (or have IHG changed policy?).

Room service menu is uninspiring; I went to the restaurant and ordered sausage and a cheese platter to be sent to the room. Cheese platter was not on the menu and I paid for it but they did do it.

So location (for this trip) was good and hotel was ok.

Room Tip: I always ask for a room with no connecting door.

Stayed in this hotel for the second year and weren't disappointed, Had a nice spacious family room on the 7th floor which had great views and was great value for money. Breakfast was included in the price and was excellent in the lovely Tiffany restaurant. Had food and drinks in the bar - barmaid was very friendly - excellent customer service. The only problem about this hotel is the distance from the U bahn which is ok in good weather - a nice 10 min walk. It would be perfect if there was a bus service which came along Effnerstrasse but I would still use this hotel as it is a peaceful haven away from the city centre so would recommend for families especially.

We Stayed two nights at this Holiday inn Hotel near the Englischer Garden. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood just ouistside of the city center and within reasonable walking distance of the Arabella Park S-Bahn station. If you do not have a car (as we did not) you can rent bikes free of charge from the front counter. They were great for riding through the Englischer Garden and tooling around through Munich city center. Our room wa on the 5th floor looking south. The room was not large, but very cozy. We had two single beds which were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well equipped with all the amenities. Our tv was hd and had a wide range of viewing options. We stayed overnight on a Saturday and Sunday night and enjoyed it so much that we asked about extending our stay for Monday and Tuesday night, as well, But the room price had more than tripled due to being nearly sold out. For 75 euro a night (we booked a deal far in advance) this hotel is a fantastically great bargain, but for 270 euro it was a bit too much for us. If you can book a stay here for 150 euro or less a night then don't hesitate!. The staff is friendly and professional. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but we did have dinner at the onsight restaurant and thouroughly enjoyed it. Good food and drink at a reasonable price. We can recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good place to stay in Munich.

Room Tip: 5th floor and higher have very good views of the surrounding neighborhood.

I had 2 nights prepaid for weekend with 2 children in Munich. Our outboundflight was delayed and it was obvious we would miss our connecting flight to Munich. I had to phone the hotel twice as they could not find the booking despite prepayment, 2 confirming emails and my Priority Club membership. I was told there would be no problem. We finally arrive very early in the morning. Again they could not find my booking as 'I had not turned up the night before'. no friendly welcome.
Although advertised as close to Enleshgarten, you need to take ubahn back into city centre and another line out. There is ringroad etc so not an easy walk with children. Wealso did not appreciate the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the bedroom. Beds comfortable and bathroom clean. No facilities, shops, restaurants nearby. The city centre Holiday Inn is very well situated and better standard of decor.

Dear 54Maggie,

Thank you for writing a review about your recent stay with us. We work very hard to ensure our facilities and service are superior and we strive to be the best Holiday Inn around. We appreciate your nice comment regarding the comfortable bed and clean bathroom,

However,It sounds like we fell below your expectations especially with poor front desk service, and smell of smoke in the room. We take all reviews positive and negative very seriously, and your feedback will help us improve for our next guest or your next visit.

Sincerely,

Orlando A.
