“Not worthy of 3 stars.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Hotel was easy to find, the underground parking garage was a nightmare to park in. Desk staff was polite, they were ready with out reservation, there were no problems with that. The room....was kind of dumpy. Our chair had a broken leg we kept having to straighten out. There was a picture on the wall that the glass was falling out of (right over the headboard, yikes.) The mirror in the bathroom fell off the wall when I tried to wipe the condensation off of it. The bathroom smelled like sewage. It aired out in a couple of hours but the first impression wasn't nice. Beds are pretty comfy, linens very clean. The room was quite clean. There was no way to hang the shower head when showering, so we had to hold it, set it down, pick up to rinse, etc. There was no remote control in the room. The breakfast was adequate, but nothing to rave about. The lady working at the breakfast bar was watching us all like a hawk. It felt less like being attentive than making sure we weren't stealing anything. She asked if I really needed 2 teabags.... The price, 100 euro, wasn't awful, but I wouldn't rate this hotel 3 stars.

The hotel is not bad, has a good location, but the rooms are a bit poor for a three stars hotel. The breakfast is good. The location is reasonably good; you are at walking distance form the centre.

The hotel provides a good base for exploring the town. Most of tourist attractions are within walking distance (we did not use any transport over a 4 day stay). There is also a number of restaurants in the neighbouring area (mostly Turkish, Greek etc.), the truly Bavarian pubs are bit more further in the historic centre.
We had a four bed room on the attic (4th floor). It was spacious and clean, though not new. All the rooms on the 4th floor share a large terrace, which may be a plus if you travel with friends as we did.
Breakfasts are buffet, the food selection is ok, but the breakfast room is not large enough for the hotel if number of guests shows up at the same time (avoid getting there at the same time with a busload of teenagers). The lady cleaning the tables and preparing the food is not very well organised, so we ended up waiting for her cleaning the tables for us while she was spending her time arranging the food.
On the other hand the reception staff was friendly and our friends got a discount for some minor issue they had in their room.

Room Tip: All rooms at 4th floor share a terrace, ground floor rooms also have a green terrace facing the yard...

I stayed here because i saw it was close to the Oktoberfest grounds and although i was meeting friends there i was staying alone and as a lone female i didn't want to have to travel too far. Well this hotel is about as close as you can get, a 2 minute walk and you are at the grounds. It's also within walking distance to Marienplatz, it takes about 20 minutes to walk there but it's a pretty straight road so no way can you get lost.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and i would say went out of their way for me. As for the room itself, it wasn't anything special but it was spotlessly clean, as was the ensuite bathroom. I think all the rooms are on the ground floor and again as a lone female traveller i would have been happier if the curtains fitted the windows as the room backed onto, offices i think. the room i had had a mini bar with beer and water in, which were very reasonably priced for a hotel. I didn't go to breakfast whilst i was there although it was included in the price.
The only downside was the price, it was very very overpriced for a 3* hotel but i guess that was more for the time of year as every hotel in munich seems the same but worth the money to be so close to Oktoberfest.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in September during the Oktoberfest festivities. Due to the event nearby, this hotel had increased their prices from around 80 euro or so per night to upwards of 150 euro per night. If I were going to do it again I would have stayed elsewhere, anywhere in Munich, near a metro stop. Oktoberfest is very easy to get to via subway.

Pros: The hotel was fairly easy to find with our GPS. Even though we showed up right in the middle of Oktoberfest on Sunday around 4PM the traffic was not too bad at all. Parking is available for 11 euro per night. It is 5 min or less of a walk to the Oktoberfest festivities and its subway stop. The linens are very comfortable. The staff was very nice and spoke English. Breakfast is great.... if you can find a table. One of our two mornings there there was nowhere to sit.

Cons: The elevator is small. The radiator in our room was broken (on hot, could not turn off, as there was no knob.) Hotel clerk said it would be fixed "tomorrow", however, it wasn't. My husband is fairly handy and we even grabbed our car tire tools with wrenches, pliers, etc, and when my husband tried to manually turn the radiator off, water started to spray everywhere. To make it worse you can only open the window a crack so we either had to pack up and move all of our things, or just stick it out. The bathtub does not have a mounted showerhead overhead, only towards the side of the tub, and the tub is very narrow. There is no way to direct the faucets in the tub to have water come out only out of the showerhead, it came out of both faucets always. There were no English channels on the TV, only German. There was no WIFI in the room although venere.com says there is, they lie! There is dial up available in the room, and WIFI in the lobby, but it is more of a pain than we had aimed for. We were EXTREMELY lucky to get a parking space; we got the last one for the hotel, and they only have about 10 available. I have no idea what we would have done if they had "run out" of spaces. The next morning we even saw some people illegally parked down there, blocking other cars. There is no mini fridge.

Honestly, you could probably find better in a great city like Munich. I have traveled all over Europe and I can "rough" it, and I don't mind, IF I know that is what I am expected to do. But for 150 Euros, I at least expected them to live up to the services they advertise on other booking sites, and I expect to not have to deal with sweltering heat in the night because the radiator has no knob.

We stayed at the hotel for three days whilst attending the Oktoberfest. It was literally 3-4 mins walk from the Oktoberfest site. The hotel is small and quiet with 4 floors. The lift is tiny and a wee bit scary but I was happy using the stairs - I don't like lifts at the best of times!
Check in was polite and hassle free and we were in rooms in a couple of mins. The have the comfiest beds ever! And the bedding is just lovely with soft feather pillows. So basically slept like a log!
Breakfast was great, a buffet style with scrambled eggs, German sausage, lots of different breads, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, jams, hot coffee and tea. The girl serving was extremely miserable but hey we weren’t so didn't care.
Checkout was easy and they kept our bags for us and booked a taxi for the airport. All in all a great stay and the Oktoberfest is one of the best things I’ve ever done!!

We booked and paid for this hotel (70 euro) from the information desk at Munich train station. Stayed for 3 nights with a family of 5 in one room even though it was only supposed to sleep 4, the room was comfortable with a balcony outside.

I found the location to be convenient to all the major attactions, we walked most places and nothing seemed to far. It was very close to the christmas night markets held on the octoberfest site. I found the staff to be friendly and it had a great hot buffet breakfast included.

I would stay at the Fidelio again if in Munich, it depends on your personal taste but for the majority of our stay we were out and about and could not see the justification in paying an additional 100 euro per night (for extra stars) to be surrounded fancy fittings when asleep.
