“Clean and comfortable - Great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

We stayed here for 7 nights and we were very pleased with the room, location and service. The rooms were spacious, modern, clean and at a great price! There is a bus stop outside the hotel which takes you to the Ostbahnhof station, there you get a train to central munich. Very easy and this service runs every 10mins.
Get a 3 day tourist pass - very cheap and allows you to use all public transport and gives you discounts on museums etc.
The one downside was expensive wifi although it is free in the lobby for 30mins periods but is slow. We opted for the "business quality" 24 hour access which costed us 17euros.
Would definitely stay here again - we loved Munich!

When I first booked this hotel (through lastminute.com's secret hotel facility) and found out where it was I was quite alarmed. Looking on the map it seemed quite a distance from the centre of the city to the attractions like the Marienplatz and English Garden but I soon realised when I arrived that it is located in an absolutely lovely area. Agreed it is out of the way of the city centre but if you turn left out of the hotel and walk down Ottobrunner strasse you will eventually come to a lovely little village (rammersdorf-Perlach I think its called) with some wonderful pubs, restaurants and shops. Not that you would want to spend all your days visiting this little village but I would recommend eating/drinking at Der Hufnagel which serves delicious Bavarian cuisine and beers with hardly a tourist in sight.
The rooms at the Munchen Am Ring are apprpriate for this type of hotel. Basic but very clean and quiet too. Didn't try the restaurant for food but did go to the pizza place next door for a couple of beers. The guys working there were very friendly.
All in all I would certainly stay at this hotel again. A quick bus ride to Karl Preis platz underground and a train up into the centre takes no more that 25 mins.

the apartments are simple but has cooking, microwave facilities and a small refrigerator. Bathroom is spacious and ther is an additional area for dressing up. Located near a housing complex, so the surroundings are very quite and green.

Hotel is far from Munich center but there is bus stop in front of main entrance. 10 min ride to Ostbahnhof and then U bahn for ten more minutes and You are under Marienplatz. Easy and efficien. No mistake. Hotel is perfect if travel by car and not want to enter Munich central zone and particularly without eco sticker. It has underground garage and it cost reasonable. Reception staff are rigid but polite and of course with German precision. Do not imagin to get into room before 15H. But when You ask them anything, torrent of information You get. They even have a daily bus tickets for sale. Rooms in fact nothing special. Our room looked on busy street but we slept like babies. room rate do not include breakfast like everyelse in NH Hotels but in this case its no problem. There is an excellent bakery accros the street.

The hotel it is ok for what you pay for BUT is located quite far away from the city center and the price of 59 euros is expensive without breakfast! There is no cafeteria or resting area and along with the bad location of the hotel i would not reccomended it for business travelers!

Booked as a secret hotel on LastMinute.com and the main header was “Crazy deal near metro station Karl-Preis-Platz” and decided not to gamble and go for the hotel next to a metro so it is easy to get in to town. This is nowhere near town! The Metro station is a good 20mins away, and Ostbahnhof is the easier to use anyway as it links straight to the city centre. The area the hotel is in pretty deserted – there is a bakery across the road, but we arrived late and there was nothing open and had to get food from a garage near-by. The hotel itself is okay, the rooms are huge but basic and cold. The staff are not helpful... We had one really bizarre incident with the weirdo on the desk. We had tickets to the Bayern Munich game and asked him to confirm the kick-off as I thought it was 2pm but I hadn’t double checked, he told me “Bayern v Bremen, that was last night and they lost”. Obviously in a panic, believing they’d moved the game for TV I had to frantically check the internet to find the game was 2pm Sat!

Thank you very much for your feedback posted on Tripadvisor which we really do appreciate.
We took your comment as a chance to discuss all points mentioned with the team to ensure that those happenings remain the exception. We will also make sure, that guests will be informed, to take the bus - direct near the hotel - to reach the metro station "Karl-Preis-Platz", so that they do not have to walk 20 minutes. As well we will take care, that guests will be informed about the Italien Restaurant round the corner. We would like to apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay and hope to welcome you once again to convince you of our quality and service.

We have been in the hotel this last weekend, and i was not so sure after reading some of the reviews.
But, it has been a good decision.
Yes, the hotel is not in the centre, but the Bus 55 stops almost in the door of the hotel, and in less than 15 minutes it leaves you in Ostbahnhof. From here to the centre, other 10 minutes by bus/tram/train. So location is not that bad.
The rooms were ok, clean, comfortable bed.
For Breakfast, there is a small boulangerie crossing the street, with great pastries and coffee. We had light breakfast for 5 euros both of us, and complete one can also be ordered at a reasonable price.

So, good value for money, and would consider it again if going back to Munich by car
