“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

It really depends on what one sees most important when choosing a hotel. For me is the proximity to the city center/ public transportation, reasonably safe neighbourhood, adequate rooms and services. King's Hotel Center meets all.

The hotel is extremely close to the train station once you figure out where it is: it can get a little difficult to find initially. In the age of smartphones, I hope they have free wifi, though living in Germany, I do have 3G connection so it wasn't a big problem.

Everyone else has said what needs saying: it's a well-placed hotel, close to the central station, in an area that feels safe. My room was at the back on the 7th floor, so was mostly quiet (except for some loud music, maybe from a public concert nearby one evening). The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice, but much the same as every other hotel you've ever stayed in in Germany. Wifi was charged extra, so I didn't bother. My main gripe was the size of the room. Floor area was small, but being on the top floor, it was under the sloping room, so felt even smaller. And in that area, they'd somehow squeezed in a canopy over the bed. No idea why, but it seems something they're proud of. And despite being a single bed, they'd found sheets that were too narrow for the bed. That means they weren't tucked in under the mattress, so after 10 mins in bed, the sheet was wrapped round me, not flat on the mattress. Serious let-down.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back to cut down on street-noise, but avoid the top floor unless you like s...

The location of the Kings Center is great as you can walk from the station when you arrive and you are then in walking distance of the Marienplatz. It is also close to the Augustiner Keller which serves good food and has an excellent beer garden.

Stayed for 3 nights. A few minutes walk from main railway station and the city. Rooms were well equipped and clean. Bottled water in room but you had to pay for and expensive as were the drinks from the bar. There was ample variety of food for breakfast - hot and cold. Wi Fi was also expensive 10 euros for 24 hrs. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall thought excellent value for money and would certainly return.

Room Tip: Had a room facing the court yard which was really quiet

This hotel is 5 minutes from the main station hbf, in a quiet, safe area. The hotel is very good, the staff are friendly and helpful, all this with very reasonable rates in an expensive city, but a city well worth visiting. It is only two stops to Marienplatz, all trains in that direction stop there.

My main tip for the city, if its a nice days weather, hire a bike and cycle the Englishgarten - perfect; the lake and the pergoda provide good stopping places or picnic in the wildflower meadows.

We spent 4 nights here at end May, staying in a superior "Club" room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the courtyard.

Access from the Hauptbahnhof was easy once we had figured out from the map which exit we were at - about 5 minutes walk from HBf. Location was good for exploring the city, sometimes we walked and sometimes used the train back to HBf. There are large Aldi and REWE supermarkets a block away and an Augustiner beer garden and restaurant about 10 minutes walk along Arnulfstrasse. Marstrasse is not too busy a road but is a bit seedy at the Bahnhof end with a casino and lap dancing club, but not a problem and the hotel is a comfortable distance away and the area seemed quite safe.

Reception staff were friendly and helfpful. Our Club room was of modest size but with a comfortable large bed, two comfortable chairs and a large desk . TV had a good range of German / European channels including two English language. Negative points were not really enough clothes storage space if you were staying more than a couple of nights and a tiny shower/ wc room. Plus points (Club rooms only, I think) were a bottle of complimentary sparkling mineral water per day and a small empty refigerator to keep your own drinks cool. The room was immaculately clean and, being at the rear of the hotel, the room was very queit.

We took breakfast each day in a nice breakfast room serviced by a very efficient team who kept all the items well stocked. Range of foods was wide and varied (hot and cold) and high quality, including the range of coffees from the self serve coffee machine. A bit expensive at 14 Euros per person but more convenient for us than breakfasting outside the hotel.

There was also a small bar and lounge area, although we did not use this.

All in all a comfortable, conveniently located hotel offering good value if you book well in advance and get a discounted rate as we did via Expedia.

Room Tip: Club rooms are slightly more expensive but probably worth it for a bit of extra space and the extras...

My wife and I have spent a week in this hotel in nid-May, and had a great experience. We've booked the rooms in advance and had a nice discount from regular rate. Having read the reviews here on TA, I've asked for room facing the inside of the building - and it was a great choice. First days (and nights) were warm so we kept the window open, no external sounds bothered us at all. Later, it had gotten colder but the A/c didnt heat the air at all, it was blowing cold air even with temperature turned up to Max. The blankets were extremely comfortable and warm, though. The standard pillows were too soft for me so we asked and got different ones (slightly harder).
We didn't get any breakfast at the restaurant, but we did stop by the bar every other night to have a cocktail or a beer - the bartenders (all of them) were extremely nice and professional!
Also a nice touch- my wife's birthday was on one of our days in the hotel, and the staff helped me order the flowers for her (at a reasonable charge) and also brought us complimentary bottle of champagne in the morning! A great day to start the birthday!
Overall it's a great hotel, worth the money, rooms are small but nice and clean. A few disadvantages are - no fridge\mini-bar in the room, and a relatively long (15-20 min) walk to center Munich, if you don't want to take a tram.

P.s. there's a great and not-very-touristy beer garden/restraunt Augustiner Keller very near to the hotel. Worth visiting a few times (we did)
