“Short & Sweet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Can’t fault the Kings Hotel, we were only staying for one night but we were made to feel very welcome, the room was clean and tidy with some nice individual touches such as the art work, warm furnishings, coffee machine (Club Room) and slippers and robes on request. The hotel also has a cosy bar and lounge area to relax and enjoy a drink in. We did not try the restaurant as breakfast was a little pricey (no worse than other hotels) but if you can get a good rate it looks like a very good option. However, plenty of café and patisseries in the area if you just want to pop out and grab a coffee and a light bite.

Location is Ok, you’re close to the train station which is a plus but it can also be a minus although the Kings hotel is not in an area that gave us any concerns. Indeed, it is quite central and it did not take long to walk into the main tourist attractions, approx. 10 - 15 minutes.

I would definitely recommend the Kings and we would have no hesitation staying at this hotel again in the future.

Room Tip: If you can get a good rate go for a Club room although all rooms are comfortable.

I am a student on stayed in this hotel for a trip. When I walked in I was exhausted from the flight and food poisoning. The lobby looked really idyllic and rhetoric of the old German style. My friend and I put our bags in the room and went out for dinner. When we got back I was really tired and ready to sleep. To my horror I did not have a keycard to my room, only my friend did, and the elevator requires one to go to any floor. Stairs. The room was small and not exactly the kind that I ever expected in a hotel room. I liked the room at first until my friend said a keycard was required to keep the electricity on. I put paper in instead and it worked. The bathroom smelled like a sewer and had a heated floor which I only like on certain occasions not being when I am overheated. The internet. The internet. Good god. 30 minutes free. If you want more you must pay outrageous prices. They promise fast internet and I could not even watch a youtube video without it being 240p and stopping frequently. The breakfast was ok. They did not have the largest selection of food and did not really represent their country through it. The plus of food was the coffee machine which made the most excellant cappachinos and caffes I have ever had. The tv had only channels in german and if you wanted to watch a movie you must activate the english movie channel on the phone and you dont even get to pick a movie yet you still pay for it. And the porn channel is easily accessible to children who know how to use a phone. The beds are comfy but the pillows are like clouds that were frozen solid then beaten with a hammer till almost all that remained was the pillow case. The price for rooms is actually a good price for this hotel. Why it is 3 stars I will never know. The rooms have one window that opens and you see the beauty of someone else's backyard. Also the window has no protection and anyone could jump out of it with ease. The air conditioning does not work but the heater does so sweating was a constant event. The power is good and you have multiple easy to access switches to different lights again though with the downside of having a keycard sitting in the slot. The bathroom is ok but water is inevitable to splash onto the tile of the floor from the shower as you do have to open the door to get in if you let the shower heat up first. There are two buttons on the toilet that have the same function of flushing. I did not really understand why that was but I let it go. All in all, the hotel is a decent place for one night if you are just there for a quick stop and breakfast. If you are looking for a hotel to stay more than one night in GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Room Tip: Get a room that is on the lower floors to avoid using the stairs if you loose your keycard or someon...

Dear guest,
thank you for staying in our KING´s HOTEL Center and for taking time to write the review.
Please give us the chance to explain some points you mentioned in your review:
our front desks helps our guests 24 hours a day and it is our pleasure to hand out several key cards for the room.
Of course we can block Pay TV channel on request. There are some security blocks installed that it is not easy to activate Pay TV for children. 30 TV channels (also American channels) are free of charge.
We also offer a large selection of different pillows.
The two buttons at the toilet are for the water, the second one for stopping the automatic volume of water. The key card system, the size of the hotel rooms, the windows and the buttons at the toilet are European standard. We offer air condition, heated floors and a lot of amenities which are actually 4 stars hotel standard.
Concerning internet connection we are trying to find a better solution for our guests.

We would be pleased to welcome you again in one of our KING`s HOTELs in order to convince you of our high quality and standard. Please do not hesitate to contact us for every question you have, it is a pleasure to assist you.

This small 3* hotel is just a few hundred yards from the main railway station and 15 minutes walk from the main shopping centre.Reception staff were very attentive, helpful and pleasant. The buffet breakfast at 12 euros was a little expesive but consisted of a mixture of English and continenta dishes.
Our small room had twin beds pushed together and what appeared to be a four poster bed, but with only two posts. The shower and toilet room was tiny but adequate. There was a free safe but no fridge or tea and coffee making facilities. There was wifi available but at a cost, I think.
The ambience of the whole place was enhanced by an abundance of wood everywhere. We were particularly pleased about the security of the place. The room key card was needed to access both the lift and the staircase.
We visited in November to see the Christmas markets. For a city centre hotel we felt that this hotel offered excellent value for money and would thoroughly recommend it for business or pleasure.

Had a four day stay and had no real problems except that a comfortable chair in the room would have been advantageous. Hotel staff very pleasant, breakfast (included in my rate) very good. As others have mentioned very convenient to the main railway station and a short walk to the "Stachus". Would certianly stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms hIgher up and facing courtyard more quiet.

The hotel was in a great location, only a short walk from the train station and about 15 mins walk to karlsplatz and my office. The reception area was lovely, the staff friendly and welcoming, gave us a map and showed us how to get around. The rooms were not huge but very clean and comfortable. The buffet style breakfast was excellent and good value at 14 euros. I would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Clean and cheap

I found this place a little odd. Firstly they put us in a smoking room when we requested not to be, to be fair they changed this when we complained so no debate there.

The thing i found strange about the rooms was the structure of the beds. For whatever reason they've decided to attach a bedside lamp, on a hinged arm, from the bed head at exactly the height your head is when you're lying down. You'll see if on the photo's from users. Effectively you roll over in the night (as i sometimes do) and you smack your head on a lamp.

Maybe i'm a little outdated in thinking bed "side" lamps should be to the side not on the side of the bed. I also prefer not to smack myself in the face whilst asleep with an electrical device at 4am because i've rolled over whilst dreaming of winning the rugby world cup for wales.

Good location, helpful staff, strange lighting.

This establishment provides a nice balance between value for money, location, and quality.

It is located less than five-minutes walk from the Munich central train station. If you take the right exit - you'll be about a block away from Marsstrasse. Although this is definitely the 'seedier' side of the town - vs. walking the other way from the station leads you into Karlsplatz and Marienplatz, with high-end shopping and restaurants - it's still close enough to those areas that you save money and enjoy a quick walk.

The hotel itself is of higher quality than its surrounding area. Friendly helpful staff who speak English. Secure elevators and well furnished rooms. WiFi didn't work in the rooms (and they only give you 30-minutes for free daily - which is silly) and breakfast was expensive. Newspapers were provided gratis as well as a map - showing the 10-minute walk to the lovely center of Munich.

The rooms were some of the nicest I stayed in whilst in Germany. With iHome radio to charge/play your iPod, nice beds and English TV - definitely good quality for the price. Staying on the top floor in a single room, the ceilings were sloping acutely - such that I could hit my head if I wasn't careful. The shower was a nice walk-in variety and the bathroom floors almost seemed warmed.

I found nice (cheaper) places to eat/have breakfast than in the hotel (by the train station) but would recommend this hotel for budget-concious but quality-oriented travelers to Munich.

Room Tip: If you're tall - be careful of rooms on the top floor which might have sloping ceilings - that y...
