“Quite Expensive but Worth It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the U-Bahn (Prinzregentenplaz). Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and welcoming. Staff are very friendly and their service excellent. Its close proximity to the U-Bahn makes this a suitable place to stay if you are sight seeing or on business.
The only thing I would ask the hotel to do is supply tea/coffee making facilities.

Room Tip: We had a room that faced on to the courtyard, very quiet. However I would think that all rooms are...

“Nice enough but not central, miniscule bathroom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

This is a nice quiet hotel in a residential area of Munich near to some of the university departments. It's not central and you need to walk to the metro and then travel a few stops. Boutique hotel describes it well, 5 star it isn't. Our room was nice enough but slightly chilly, till we worked out that we had to lift the thick curtains above the radiator. The bathroom was tiny, no other word for it. There is no evening restaurant in the hotel, though we had a pleasant meal in the bar but there aren't many tables. The staff varied in their helpfulness, the booby prize has to go to the staff member who rang to tell us that a late checkout would not be possible shortly after our arrival 24 hours late due to a fog delay. This could easily have been mentioned to us the following day personally rather than ringing our room when we were having a nap. The fitness centre was closed for remodelling and we were not made aware of this in advance.

In summary, nice enough but not quite worth the money though with a bit of tweaking and a bit more attention to detail most of the irritations would go unnoticed

“Cold welcome but warm stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

This hotel was a complete surprise to me. I arrived very late on a Friday night and was not completely happy with my hotel choice once I had checked-in because the male member of reception staff was far from helpful. The bar is a real treat at this hotel; I stayed in winter and the roaring log fire made this amenity a real treat. Though, the man on reception didn't bother to tell me where the bar was or that it was still open. I only found it on my second and final night so I was disappointed by this. He did not even tell me what time breakfast was or that the mini-bar was included in the room price. I do get frustrated by shockingly poor customer service and this cold welcome made me want to instantly check-out. Saying that, I am glad I didn't, as the hotel breakfasts make this hotel one very special place to stay. The staff in the restaurant are clearly trained, unlike the reception staff, to make you feel special and go out of the way to remember your name and orders. It was also nice to have the option to eat dinner in the bar. So I left feeling much better about this hotel.

“Comfortable, stylish and "classy"!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

As an American might say, this is a classy hotel. The fact that it is a well-established and family-run enterprise comes across in the elegant décor, the efficient, helpful service, the thoughtfulness and style of the room fittings and furnishings, the attention to detail and an ambience of confidence and charm.

We stayed for three nights in a Deluxe Room (402) with a small balcony that overlooked the garden. It had plenty of space for a room at this price with a separate sitting area with comfy chairs, plenty of side tables and sufficient wardrobe and shelf space. As mentioned elsewhere you get a free mini-bar stocked with a couple each of beers, Coke, fruit juices and water and packets of peanuts, which are replaced daily. There is a safe, slippers, towel robes, plenty of glasses, bottle openers, luxurious towels, and high-class toiletries. The bathroom has a marble bath with good, well-screened power-shower over it, a large shaving/makeup mirror and a proper hairdryer. There are triple curtains for those that like a blackout, flat-screen TV, free wi-fi and a nightly turn-down service. Reassuringly, the website photos are entirely representative of what we got.

A few niggles: a few more genuine, easy-going smiles at reception would be welcome; the room lighting, though extensive and flexible, is very low-powered such that reading is only comfortable when at the desk or in bed; all three of our wardrobe door handles (pull-rings) continually fell off and were replaced only to fall off again: these need to be changed throughout the hotel. Surprisingly for a 5-star hotel in Europe, the only two TV channels in English, out of over 40, were CNN and BBC World News: this too needs rectifying for the international traveller. And why only one chocolate on the bed at turndown, between two people?!

We did not try the expensive breakfast nor had dinner in the hotel. However we did have a late supper and drink in the cosy and smart bar, and as late as 22.55 on return from the ballet we could choose light meals from a fairly extensive menu.

All-in-all we much enjoyed our short stay at the Muenchen Palace. It is not cheap but it is good value – and clearly strives successfully to maintain high, well thought out standards of comfort and service. We would happily recommend it and stay there again.

“Great hotel to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

This hotel is not I'm the core but is only a few minutes away from the centre. Much better an average hotel. Clean. Organized. Modern. Included Internet. Tv extra. Didn't have breakfast because its over priced. Cater to business class crow. Quiet street. Great location in residential Munich. No porn shops and seedy sorts around ths hotel unlike most others. Service was good. Would stay again and recommend for seasoned travellers who don't want hassles or inadequate offerings.

Room Tip: Inner court better than street view.
